Thank you both. This is very helpful. The very first time at the cage,I had it but didn't know it! I didn't realize I could turn around. Once I did that & went forward once voila!! Back to the elevator, I did go to the top so I'll do it again I'll jump . The Bahro did come, sooo I'll try again,
Thanks again
Betty

I had a lot of trouble with this challenge, and it was because I couldn't draw the singing sign and have the Bahro recognize it. I finally checked out a walkthrough -- when I drew the symbol the way it appeared in this walkthrough, with the figures small and lots of space around them, then the Bahro recognized it. (Scroll down to see the singing symbol -- note that the example you are drawing from in Yeesha's journal shows the symbol as much larger. Grrrrr.)

Betty,

If the Bahro recognised the picture then he placed it out on the island (the "keep") pedestal and has created a little link to that pedestal on pedestal #1 (the initial bubble). Use that new link to get to the "keep" and complete the age.

Let us know if this is the case.

Have fun!

Me again! I can't find the second symbol(link) at Todelmer I had a hard time seeing the the symbols to input on the machine in the red room.I put the first symbols found on the first left machine & the second on the first right. I assume this is correct?? Any clues. There is a small dot thru the telescope but I don't think that's it.

I'm not sure which ones you consider the "second".

That telescope has a ZOOM control that you might try.

Good Morning. I meant the Bahro sign on the second pedestal that's behind the big gear. I've spun the gear & still can't see the pedestal. I'll try turning it again
How do I know if I've entered the proper icons in the machine in the red room?

Apparently this game is the worst. I have checked the Myst site out & it seems there are quite a few glitches! I'll probably still be playing this game when you get your new computer!!
Have a great day,
Betty

Ahh, now I understand, Betty. The gear is rotated by moving the Tram towards the "island pillar" that you are on. Have you found the tram controls (you won't actually see the tram yet because it is way out at the other pillar island)? When you move it towards you (lever position to the RIGHT), the cables are rolled up over that huge pulley on the roof and the spokes will rotate out of the way so you can see the 2nd pedestal on the distant pillar (you will need to ZOOM). You may have to move it two clicks; I can't remember... Later, you will need to move the lever to the LEFT to return that Tram to it's original position.

Hope that helps.

I left Todelmer & am now stuck at the frozen lake in Taghira. Oh well, story of my game life! I don't seem to have enough time to get everything done to cross over. I'll keep trying
Thanks, Betty

Hi Dusty.
First of all, like many many of Myst's puzzles - you'll need to supply power to the steam pipes that run inside the lake.
Have you found a certain symbol that allows you to do that?
You also need to make sure maximum power is gathered from everywhere.
After you supply power - you'll see you can toggle some switches on the left and right sided of the lake. They're related to a map you see inside the main building, on the wall.

Try figuering this one out - if you're still stuck - feel free to ask.

Good luck,
Tomer.

I like that about Myst, if you've played the prevoius games you sort of know what they like you do to, it's almost always about power in some way, supplying something with power to make it work. And animals play a big role too, be nice to the animals is sort of a theme through out the games smile

Hehe, I've gathered that slate is causing people a lot of grief!

I'm not there yet though, I didn't have time to play much yesterday, I've met Yeesha and been sent off to that strange old guy and now I've climbed down some hole and I'm exploring a dingy old tunnel. laugh

Well, I'm not well in to the game. I've gone down the shaft in D'ni's caves and linked in and out of that "resting age", not sure if I've found all four bubbles yet but that's a later problem.

Right now I'm in some age, can't remember the name but it's the very nice island with sandy dunes and a grasscovered hill with a big rock in the middle. I've managed to get inside that hill and up to the top, now I've just got to figure out how to open that door in the smaller island. I'm guessing...alot of slate drawing and running back and forth...

That's pretty much correct.
You need to draw something specific.
You also need to be very patient.

GL.

Well, I've solved that age but now I'm literally stuck. I went to the ice and snow age and managed to make the floor crack, I then drew the symbol that does something with heat I think and the Bahro took the slate back to the bubble. I then turned left and went up some path and got to a ledge that looks on to the island and the first pedestal. But when I turn around to go back I find out that I can't go back, it's like the path is to steep and the hand symbol remains slightly transparent. And I can't seem to jump off the ledge either. I've got no slate either, obviously, so I'm stuck!

What do I do, does anyone know? Can I restart the age some how?
