ancient soul,

Again, this is another game that if you have not picked up all available inventory items, clicked on all active spots, have measured necessary things, have read all documents and looked close inventory items; you will not progress.

The best thing I can help you with is to check the walkthrough and see what you might have missed.

----------
Hello Mag, I did indeed miss something.
I had forgotten to look at the flower in the window and watch the cutscene. I do that and go back to stenwicks residence with no luck I have no idea what I did wrong
--------

I combined all 3 postings. Please use the edit button to help us. Thanks.

I don't know what you have missed since there are many things that are needed to be done. Be sure that Holmes makes comments on all of these:

Shed: Check the door, lintel and the cloth caught in the nail.
Maori drawing on the ground and the bowl at far wall.
Zoom in and use the magnifying glass to see a ball in the bowl. Take the ball. Read Holmes' observation under report in the portfolio.

Grounds close to the wall:
Look down and see footprints. Look close at the footprints. Use the magnifying glass and examine the prints. Measure the footprint. Take note that the right footprint is missing a nail. Move the lens to see and take a fish scale at top left of the prints.

Wall inside: Look the twisted metal on top of the wall.

Wall at other side outside the house:
Look down and see the footprints. Follow it to a gate that Holmes would say 'he doesn't need to go there'.
Take the ladder. Use the ladder on the broken metal above the wall. Click on ladder to climb up and then take the fibre.

Look close at all the items picked up. Check and read the documents. Good luck.

ok, I'm stuck talking to Mr. Rufles and Capt. Stenwick. I have the plant fiber, fish scale, small lump, knife, matches, piece of cloth in inventory. I have a book on fish, and a book on Pirates and a newspaper in Doc. I have a report on the fish drawing from the floor, the shoe size 7 and a report on the plant fiber. I have went thru the walktru twice and can't progrss any farther. This is the second time I started this game and when I get back to talk to the capt he says Find anything Holmes but Holmes don't reply. I just don't know what I have missed.

There is a nail missing from the right shoe impression I believe and you should note that. There is a piece of material caught on the grill work at the top of the fence that you need to collect also.
Did Stenwick give you background info on the missing man?

Yes I noticed the missing nail and got the piece of fiber on top of the fence also. Yes Capt Stenwick told me all about him.

Edit:

I'm ready to put this one on a shelf somewhere.

Crazy this game is terribly picky about the evidence. You will have to stay at Stenwicks until you find what you have missed. Did you check for a piece of material at the top of the shed door? Did you check the door lock?

Yeah it must be picky. I have the piece from the top of the shed door and checked the door lock too. Sorry about stacking posts. Didn't know to use the edit button after you have already posted.

I did everything you needed to do. find all the evidence left. made sure sherlock commented on the findings read the reports (that he made) read everything there was in documents (newspaper, the fish book, and pirates) did you measure the shoeprint correctly? I know that was my problem when I was stuck
at that part oh did you notice on the second set of footprints (the nail of the shoe was missing?)

Ancient soul you should have a knife in your inventory to open the package with.
Good luck

Thank you ancient soul, I do have an interest in ancient egypt - it's a fascinating civilization, but I have to confess I only changed my avatar today - I've been a cat for a long time! lol

crazylady: have you gone out of the front gate of the house into the street, turned left and then turned into the opening that leads to the other side of the wall of the house garden - there are some ladders lying around in the vicinity.... smile
