Happy Easter!

Today's freebie is Fatal Hearts which sounds interesting if one reads the description on the page. This was also a game released not too long ago on BFG and got mixed reviews - I believe you will find it Here in the Casual games.

For free I am going to give the game another try wave

Have a fun day,
Linda

Thanks Linda! I also tried the demo a little while ago and wasn't that thrilled with it, but like you, I'm going to give it another try. smile

The game isn't easy but there is a setting (go into options using the escape key) and you can make the text automatic instead of repeated clicking. You can also use the spacebar instead of the left mouse button for the text.

I found a strategy guide but you must join *free* the Hanako website in order to download the 5mb strategy guide. Follow the link from the forum here and the game strategy guide - which is very well written and with pictures - will install to your computer leaving a shortcut in your start menu. I have had to use it twice already.

Thanks for the tip! I have read there are number of difficult puzzles.

Are you enjoying this game better the second time around?

Not really duh The scenes are nice but I wind up randomly clicking in the hopes of finding some way to progress in the story. And the puzzles seem skewed in favor of the AI/computer. I like to enjoy a game not feel frustrated by it.

It also feels like it should be for a teenager and I haven't dated in over 20 years. The idea of who to make a friend under-whelms me.

But the price is right to at least try it again. How are you liking it this 2nd time around misa?

I haven't replayed it yet but will tomorrow. I spent the day playing The Lost Crown only to stop now because of a glitch. frown

I have a feeling I might like Fatal Hearts better this time around with more time. The 60 minute demo gave me a good feel for it but I got stuck on a puzzle at that time and felt rushed.

Sherryah, I think the free strategy guide is awesome! And, they provide codes to bypass any of the puzzles you find too difficult. But, the guide also offers solutions to the puzzles and if you follow the instuctions you can complete the puzzles. It took me several tries to beat the Police-person but I did finally manage it. Right now I am hung up on cleaning up the house puzzle, lol, I haven't found the right order to pick up the trash duh

I haven't uninstalled it Misa, I will just fit it in with The Lost Crown for a few minutes here and there. I have so many games installed to be played - where to start think

I can't get the cheat code to work. I hit F10, type in skip_puzzle and the code and get an error message. Can anyone help me as I can't beat the clock on the clean the house puzzle. Thanks so much.

The tough puzzles that you mention show how worthless most of the comments on GOTD are. Not only do you have folks there who aren't even interested in the adventure genre who are "reviewing" and commenting (why would you comment on a game in a genre that you have no interest in?), but also lots of people there said it was "too easy." They probably only did the first mini-game (the web) and then uninstalled it.

Linda, I have the same problem as you as well. So many unplayed games both adventure and casual -- so little time! smile

(offtopic: I am enjoying The Lost Crown immensely. I don't want it to end! If you haven't started that yet, do so!)

b42241, I haven't played this game but see that Linda is on the same level as you are. Hopefully, she or someone else who has played this game will be by soon to shed some light on the subject.

Thanks for your patience.

I figured out my problem... You have to put brackets around the code number. skip_puzzle (110) as example.

thanks b42241 for letting us know. I'm sure you aren't the only one with that problem and now we know what to tell them wave

Did you download the strategy guide? I just got back to the computer and the pattern you are supposed to use is show. You start by going up and then pretty much clockwise to get all the dirt.

From the guide: To skip a puzzle, hit F10. A window will come up asking you to enter a code. Type in

skip_puzzle( ) I'm not sure but maybe you type the number in between the ( and ) duh

Then you will be prompted for a code number. This number is different for every puzzle. Read the guide instructions for the puzzle to find the number.

I went back to the puzzle and the code you need is 35 but you might want to look at the picture in the guide and then try again. It took me 3 tries and re-reading the guide to finally beat the police but it is better than using a cheat code for satisfaction.

luck Linda

** Oops, you already solved it.

I just wanted to say I played this through once and got 1 ending of 14, I went back to try the other endings but that got really old and boring fast.

I also want to say that this is NOT for children, this is a very dark game with sexual themes in some places, violence, blood, etc. I personally don't think it's even appropriate for teens but I think that's how it's rated.

Just my 2 cents. I was interesting though, I had always hoped there would be a game that is more "Choose Your Own Adventure" like. I hope there are more with not such a dark theme.

ending 1 is the 'you lose' ending, if you got that you not only never solved the real plot, you also never got to the end of the last chapter even once.

don't back up to the beginning, back up just a little bit. that's what the autosaves are for, its like when you read a choose your own adventure book and keep a finger on the last choice so that you can go back and change your mind if the choice kills you.

if you got ending 1 you never even met the vampire. you won't have any idea what the game was about. you need to get at least one ending with the vampire and one ending with the werewolves to see both sides of the plot. there actually are some happy endings!

if you go into the options menu and change the skip speed, it will skip over any text you've seen before super-super-fast. you're not supposed to read all the text you've read before and feel bored, you're supposed to go back and look for choices you didn't make and make the other choice.

Thanks Amethyst, I thought there would be a vampire but never knew about the werewolves.

No, this is not a game for kids but it looks like it is geared for them. But then I won't watch the chainsaw/slasher movies that kids watch either so who am I to say or judge.

Me thinks I need to keep playing at least a little bit longer...
