In the Library I cannot get the knitting book. I can buy the sketch pad. What do I have to do to get the knitting book? What did I Miss? Thank you for your help.

Hi Phil,

Poirot needs money to buy the knitting book. You need to send a telegram to the bank; as soon as they reply then you can purchase the book.

Rushes, I am sorry I should have told you I got the Bank funds with the telegram. When I go over to buy the book all I can buy is the sketch pad. When I go to see Gardener I cannot give her the knitting book to trigger going back to London. Since I don't have the book, she will not come out of the room. Thank you.

Hello Everyone. I am asking Gladys to ask the ladies to open the bottle, and she does find the one with the strength, but at no point can I select which bottle to use. From then on no progress can be made, no clue is given by Poirot. Tried several times, but both bottles remain in the inventory after the test. Can't open the inventory while talking to Gladys. Help please.

Hi Chorlton,

Did Gladys tell you the name of the lady who was able to open the bottle? If so, then you've completed that part of the game, and there's likely something else you haven't done that's stopping you from moving forward.

Rushes is correct Oswald. If Gladys says that X Y or Z opened the bottle, you are done in this part of the game. You will keep the bottles most likely.
You might want to run back to Poirot's office and check the finger of suspicion or look at your journal to see what tasks haven't been completed.
Good luck

Thanks for your reply. Yes, Gladys did correctly identify the bottle opener. I will try redoing some earlier events.

I found Gardener and he asked for a gift for his wife, which opened up the buying of the Knitting book. Thank you all.

Hello Sue, I have replayed earlier parts of the game but can't find anything that I have missed, and checked back with Poirot and the list of things to do. All are crossed off and done. Poirot mentions the Finger of Suspicion when asked for help, but no dialogue options come up. Is there any possibility of a game save to get past this problem.

I'll have to put my game in and play for a bit Oswald. What event are you trying to get to?

Hello Sue, Thank you for the offer of a save. I need to be at the start of Act 6, and have the next clue to be able to get Hastings back to the Island.
