Since so many of you are showing an interest in the casual game (between those brain burning Adventure games) I thought a thread listing all those available might be helpful. Here are the ones I've found so far. Some are at Big Fish, some at other places. In order to find them just Google the title.

1) Mysteryville
2) ***Big City Adventure
3) *Hide and Secret
4) **Abra Academy
5) **Hidden Expedition- Titanic
6) *Magic Academy
7) ***Mystery Case Files - Prime Suspects
8) ***Mystery Case Files - Ravenhurst
9) ***Mystery Case Files - Huntsville
10) Mystery Solitaire - Secret Island
11) Paparazzi
12) ***Agatha Christie - Death on the Nile
13) *Dream Day Wedding
14) *Travelog 360 Paris
15) **Little Shop of Treasures
16) Private Eye (Thanks Wys)
17. Mystery of Shark Island
http://www.playfirst.com/game/mysteryofsharkisland?SID=sr2pf66go3042sx441pi38ai52%20games

18) I Spy Games

http://www.scholastic.com/ispy/downloads/download_treasure.htm

*denotes excellence

Please add any I may have missed. laugh

Note, I didn't like Mystery of Shark Island, it's not like the Hidden Object we're used to.

Am I correct in saying that Travelog 360 Paris allows you to play it without the timer on? Does anyone know which of the others are not timed or allow you to play with the timer off?

Ispace when you fill out your PASSPORT (beginning where you enter your player name) check TOURIST instead of Explorer at the bottom, and there is no timer.

you forgot that new one, Private Eye, from Big fish.

I am addicted to these games! I just finished little shop of treasures and am starting Blitz mode! I even joined the game club so I could get it. what's happened to my common sense??

Nothing has happened to your common sense WW. Some games are just plain fun to play and some make your brain hurt!
The little man and I love these games, he looks for certain items and I look for others. But it's something that the two of us can work on together. My husband just shakes his head and leaves us alone.
I don't remember any law that says we have to strain our brains to solve puzzles.
As long as it's fun, it works for me!

Sue

Edit: Yes we do like the magazines with hidden picture puzzles too.

I just played the Paris one and did not care for it very much. Perhaps it was intended for a somewhat younger audience, but I found it a little simplistic, though some of the photography was quite nice. The 360-degree interface made me a bit nauseous after a while, plus the fact that I became frustrated at being rooted to one spot and only able to spin in a circle. Bear in mind also that I just did the demos for all the super ones like Ravenhurst...if I had done this one first I may have appreciated it more.

Just my thoughts on it,

Kateri

I finished it twice, but I didn't care for the panaramic view either. I liked it mostly becaused it was different. It was also educational.

So far my favorite was Ravenhurst.

I came across this site the other day, but I don't know if it has what you're looking for. I never realized how many casual games there are!

I think alot us Gameboomers like these hide and seek games for the same reason we like adventure games. They challenge the "little gray cells". The ones that are done well are like adventure games to me. I have played all of the Mystery Game Files ones and absolutely love the Agatha Christie game as my all time favorite so far. I hope they keep more coming of the same quality as Mystery Game Files and Agatha Christie happydance

I just D/Led the demo for this and I love it. It's by the same people as Magic Academy from the look of it, so if you liked that you'll like Mysteryville.

Have you all tried BIG CITY Adventure? It's by far the best yet, except for the dratted inbetween games, except the jigsaw.

Thanks NYLady for the list!I'm a big fan of this kind of casual games, and list them has been a very good idea, so I can check which one I have still to play,
cheers,

I did the demo yesterday all in one sitting--totally addictive. And I LIKE the in between games! So there.

I think Mysteryville deserves a star on your list. I finished the demo and I'm itching to get the full version....but I have to wait for my next gane credit.

There are so many of these I wonder if they need their own forum laugh

NYLady, that game was released in 1999, I have it along with a few others from Scholastic. They really aren't as good as the new ones but they are ok.

OK... I changed the link to where there are two I SPY games. I don't think they are like the ones we are used to but I'm downloading I Spy Treasure Island and I'll let you all know what it's like.

<edit> Ana's right the game is old. I'm pretty new to these games so I thought they were new. Not only is it old but the download at RealArcade doesn't even work anymore. Geez, why don't they remove it I spent 10 min. downloading a dud.

Sorry everyone, didn't mean to get your hopes up.

I picked up "I Spy Mystery" at Target for 9.99 a week or so ago (ostensibly for my son <g>). I definitely feel the 'I Spy' series is mostly observational gaming as well.

They have Huntsville on disk at Target for $20, for anyone who doesn't have it yet.
