Hi Ho everyone!

I have been enjoying the classic game RIPPER, and I've played it all the way through.

In my game, Catherine was the Ripper and it made sense because she had motive.

But I have heard that since I'm playing version 3 of the game there are FOUR possible endings.

If one of them is dying, well, I've seen that one a lot!
crazy
And, as I said, I've seen the ending in which Catherine is the Ripper.

That would leave two more endings to see and I am wondering if there is any way to see them without playing the WHOLE game through again.

If it's just a matter of playing Act III differently, I would be willing to try that.

But is there some other way to see the other endings?

I found a lot of videos of the game on AOL Television, and they are apparently YouTube videos. But none of them show any endings.

Perhaps someone out there has a save in which not Catherine but one of the other characters is the Ripper?

If not, perhaps someone could tell me how to find the different ending movies and make them play?

I really consider this among the great adventure games made, but I'm not prepared to play it again right away.

As always, any and all help deeply appreciated!!

Thanks Boomers!

~Raj

Hi Raj,

Wow, this is an oldie! I haven't played this game, so I don't know how the choices you make during the game affect the ending, or how far back you'd need to go for a saved game. Perhaps someone who has played the game will know, let's wait and see. wave

Hi Rushes!

An oldie, but a goodie!

I so love the detective (or in this case reporter) serial killer genere!

If you haven't played it, it's worth it. From the golden age of Take Two Interactive, it is.

Also, I forgot to thank good old STEVE'S CORNER for the excellent DOSBox instructions. Worked like a charm as usual!

Thanks for the well wishes!
~Raj

This walkthrough states that you won't know which scenario you are playing until Act 3.

See the different possibilities there and maybe you can work through one of your saved game.

Thanks MaG!

I should have mentioned that I used the Gameboomers walkthrough and found the identical walkthrough here:

http://www.thecomputershow.com/computershow/walkthroughs/ripperwalk.htm#act3

I wonder if there are copyright issues because the two are word for word the same.

Anyhow, I didn't find the walkthrough you pointed to, so thanks for that.

The great thing is that it says that dying isn't one of the four endings so I now know there are THREE more to see, rather than two as I thought.

The thing that troubles me is that it says you won't know which path you're on until Act 3 but it sounds like which ending you are rolling towards is decided randomly at the beginning of the game.

My, it would be troubling to play the whole game through again just to end up with the same ending I already saw!

I guess I'll try reworking Act 3 until I hear from a Boomer with a better idea.

Thanks for the help, MaG!

Hey!
Here's a tech-y question I just thought of!

Does anyone know of any way to tell which path you are on?

I remember the Tex Murphy games had a way to tell which ending you were headed for.

IF there is a way, then I could start the game, determine which path I'm on, and restart if it's one I've already played.

I wouldn't mind replying so much if I knew I was headed for a different ending. (Although it's a loooong game-- for which I praise the golden age of adventure games.)

I haven't seen any walkthrough that mentions any such thing, but maybe I should cruise the reviews?

Anyhow... just a thought.

Another idea just struck me (good thing I have a hard head, huh?)

Perhaps there is a Boomer out there who played the game and got a different ending and can send me a save from their game???

That would work, wouldn't it?

Thanks!
~Raj

OOPS! I just realized I mentioned this in my original post... sorry for the redundant redundancy.
