What are your computer's specs?
Specifically how much system RAM? What video card? What version of the video drivers? What sound card? What version of Windows?

Sometimes reducing audio acceleration will get rid of freezes, but Vista doesn't have the option.

Which particular video card is it?
What model number?
Does it have at least 128MB of discrete video RAM? (i.e. -- not built into the motherboard and borrowing system RAM instead of having its own video RAM)

I don't know if the game will work with that, since it's onboard graphics and is not fully DirectX 9.0c compatible.

The patch was supposed to help with freezes.

Did you install it before or after you started playing?

I have installed the patch before i started playing. And most of the time when it freezes is after clicking the escape button to go to the save, load, continue or quit screen and then i can't do anything except hit control alt and delete to get out of this.
And even though it still freezes every once in a while i have still managed to make it to act 3 in the game.
But this still is getting annoying.

And i know that the patch is installed correctly because i checked what the patch is supposed to fix and i have not had any of those other problems that came before it was patched.

If you really only have 894 MB of memory on a Vista computer, that might be the problem, especially since your computer is using shared memory. 894 MB is very low for a Vista computer, especially if you want to play games on it. Adding another GB or two of system memory to the computer might fix the problem.

That's strange. Do you have a lot of applications running in the background? 191 MB is being shared with the video card, but that doesn't account for a missing GB.

I think that might be too low for this game if you're running Vista. Vista uses more RAM than XP. Can you add more RAM to your computer?

Same problem here with the freeze on pressing escape to save. System is 2GB memory on Dell 6400 notebook with ATI x1400 graphics running Windows 7 Home premium. Verson is patched up tp 1.02. Can save once in a while, but relying on the Autosaves to get through. I reduced the in game graphics, but that didn't help either.

Anyone had success getting this bug debugged?
Thanks...

Jim

I hope it gives you no further trouble.
