I received Lost City of Z today and I just wanted to say a Big thank you to GameBoomers and Merscom.

A special thank you to Lloyd Melnick of Merscom. It was an unexpected surprise and so very thoughtful of you to include Big Kahuna Words.

Hey HOGS!!

I haven't received the game yet...

Should I be worried?

I'm looking forward to the National Geographic expedition I never could take! smile

YIPPEE! YIPPAY!! IT CAME TODAY!!! rotfl

I guess I was so excited I got a bit of anxiounctuousness. (See, I'm so excited I invented a word just for this post! headscratch )

I haven't fired up this puppy and strolled the Lost City yet, but I can't wait to! woozy

Tonight I think I'll scatter some National Geographics around the room for atmosphere, maybe turn on the Discovery channel without the sound, sit back with my clicker finger nice and limber and... and... and ooze with gaming goodness!! razz

Now how much would you play? But wait!

In the package was a nice hand-signed letter from the kind and generous Mr. Lloyd Melnick-- Chief Customer Officer -- thanking me! hearts

So now how much would you play? ... BUT wait!!

The lovely Mr. Melnick (did I mention he was kind and generous?) thoughtfully saw fit to...
Send another game along: Big Kahuna Words!!! scared

NOW how much would you play?

Buuuuuuuuut WAIT!!!!

Big Kauna Words comes with...

Free Extra Games!:
-Triple Word Play
--- Puzzle Word
--- Word Buzz Gold
--- and Word Juice (which... um... title-wise... is perhaps just a touch... um... scary. )

And yet!
AND yet!
AND YET!!!!

If you continue reading this post (within the next 30 minutes) you will find...

THAT THERE'S ALSO A BONUS GAME: Fruity Garden!!!

(Man! You gotta love Merscom! kissy )

I'm drowning in a sea of casual treasures! (But, oh no, don't throw me that lifeline quite yet. )

(But... erm... just by the by... d'ya think there's a 12-step program for casual gaming? -Nah, I think my higher power is a gamer anyway!)

Thank you Merscom for sponsoring!
Thank you Gameboomers for hosting!
Thank you BrownEyedTigre (and Loony4Labs) for All you do!!

And Thank You Boomers, One and All! (Y'all are more fun than a dancing burger! burger )

Raj, you totally crack me up! Your graemlins fit the emotions so well, but alas, we have an 8 graemlin limit per post so I had to delete a few...or a lot. rotfl

But your enthusiasm is certainly not lost, and your excitement makes it all worthwhile.

And yes, Lloyd and Merscom are a pleasure to deal with.

Oh no!
I just popped in Lost City of Z and can't figure out how to run it. frown

Maybe someone here can help? Or perhaps I should go to Glitches and Patches and Technical stuff?

Does this mean I have to clean up all the National Geographics? razz

Raj, Raylinstephens had the same problem with Rioghteous Kill and maybe something in her post will help you:

The CD comes with "folders" and I had to click 3X but then you see an icon with Righteous Kill and when I clicked on it I saw many credits but then the game started.

I am just trying to ascertain if I must play from the CD in the drive all the time or if there is a way to install it please.

Thanks wave
Linda

**edit: I figured out what to do. thanks

I also got my super game package from UPS, no less, on Friday and I can't believe I forgot to post immediately!!! If this is what happens when a developer is slow in mailing I am all for it. Thank you so much Merscom, and Mr. M and Ana. What hours of fun are in store. I am just wondering if the second game and it's many sub-games don't want to work in 64 bit. I do have my XP computer if not....I'll fool around with it until I get it or need to come back for help on Glitches. Raj, you are hilarious!!! rotfl

Glad I gave you a giggle Lotus77!

Ana, thanks for the post from Linda but her problem was entirely different from mine.

BUT... WHOO HOO!! I got the game working!

For the record, though, here's my story.

On the disc is one zipped file.
I clicked on it and it opened in a window.
There was one folder of data called "access", an application called "The Lost City Of Z" and a ".pdb" file (whatever that is).
SO... naturally, I clicked on the application and got a gray windows window telling me I had to extract more files, even though I couldn't find any other zipped files.
When I clicked "Extract all" I got the windows extraction wizard.
Then I got an extract window with the location to extract to blank filled in with a long file name.
I figured that this was where the game wanted to go, so I left it. But then the extraction wouldn't work because it said it couldn't find the folder.

TURNS OUT... what I needed to do was go back to the zipped file on the disc and use WINZip to extract it to a folder I made.

BOOM!... The extraction worked and the little application file turned into an icon of a yellow bordered rectangle (like the National Geographic logo) and my heart went all pitter-pat.

WHOOPEE!! Clicked on that and... away we go!! smile

I will post something about my experience with the game as such news reports come in.

Signing off,
Your dedicated HOG (Hidden Object Gamer),
~Raj
