I have been doing some research on this game and find one reviewer said it had a tendency to be a problem to those subject to motion sickness. I was wondering if any of you folks who have played it can tell me if this is so.

I couldn't play Sentinel because of that, much as I liked what I saw of the game before giving up with spinning eyeballs and queasy stomach.

Thanks~

If you search the old threads here on the game, you will see that many suffered motion sickness playing.

It depends on what type of movement gives you motion sickness.

Some people get it from FPS-type motion, as in Sentinel.

Some people get it from node-based games with panning, such as the ***Kheops games***. If you get motion sickness from games like the Kheops games, you'll get it in Pursuit of Loath Nolder.

Hi, sarahandus

Yes I did get motion sickness....But ..I wanted to play the game so bad...What I did..I fiddle with the mouse control in the game...Also I had to look away when I moved from room to room...The panning was really bad in ceiling areas....

I actually found Darkness Within to be worse than Sentinel, even though it's usually the FPS-type motion (like Sentinel) that give me motion sickness. I don't usually have much of a motion-sickness problem with node-based games like the Kheops games, but I certainly had problems with Darkness Within -- even more than with Sentinel.

Like Darleen says, pretty much the only way to cope with it is to look away from the screen when you're panning or moving around. Usually game controls (when they're even available) don't slow the movement enough to prevent motion sickness, though they may make it less.

Thanks folks, guess this one goes on the reject list. While waiting for the next good game to come out I was trying to find something to play. It's back to replaying some of the oldies.

Thanks again for the input~

sarahandus, I urge you to try this game.
I loved it and may be unconsciously comparing other games to it since.
It was so dark and different and interesting!
They have a demo on the website you could try out here to see if you can handle it.
I played this game 3 times in a week when it came out!
When it ends it gives you a rating of what you found and what you missed.
Documents, Clues, Hidden Clues, Story Secrets, and Easter Eggs.
I had to keep at it until I knew and found everything.
If you click on the forum link at the website you will find a wealth of info, the patches and the developer personally!
I've found I have to try the demos to see how some games affect me personally.
I didn't experience any sickness problems, although it helps to set the cursor to fixed and the mouse sensitivity to low in the options.
But the newer Sherlock Holmes games make me toss my cookies after just a few minutes and become unplayable.
Most others seem to handle those games just fine.
So I urge you to try the demo for motion sickness problems only, not gameplay. The demo happen very late in the game and could be confusing and frustrating. The full version eases you into the controls and navigation and the atmosphere. The demo just drops you in blind.
Like I said, I loved this game and am waiting for the sequel as patiently as possible!
I'd hate to see someone miss out!

lily.bart, I will think on your suggestion. However since Jenny says it was worse than Sentinel for motion sickness I don't have much hope that I can play it. I even had problems with Beyond Atlantis II, having to look away from the screen when moving about and still had to play in short sessions.

later- After 30 seconds of the demo I have spinning eyeballs and a splitting headache. This is definitely not a game for me.

Thanks all~
