I posted about downloading from Big Fish, everyone gave me confidence, so now I want to grab a few games.

Some background: I'm a classic adventurer by trade and haven't played many "casual" games by their definition. The only one I've played so far is Three Cards to Midnight, and I enjoyed it.

My most important wants in a game are story and puzzles. I don't think I'd be into a pure hidden object game unless it had a really good story.

What I'm looking for is some recommendations for some titles at Big Fish, mainly "casual" games that mix a decent story, puzzles, and some adventure elements and not pure hidden object. Definitely eager for recommendations and more games to play, so please steer me in the right direction smile

Thanks so much for any help!

Personally, I have enjoyed the MCF games. But there were many that I really enjoyed:

Hidden Secrets The Nightmare
Drawn: The Painted Tower
Mystery Chronicles Murder Among Friends
just to name a few.

So many games, so little time.

Phod, there is a favorites list Here. Scroll down to Casual and then check out the Adventure Lite section.

Thanks! Is that list fairly up to date or is it based on earlier this year? Just want to make sure I'm seeing every good title smile

Hi Phod,

The list was compiled at the beginning of August this year, so very recent but not completely up to date as far as brand new releases are concerned. smile

I just finished a neat game that had a good story and puzzles, to my way of thinking, Alabama Smith in the Quest of Fate. However it did have one major flaw that almost ruined it for me: It went heavy on atmosphere in some parts where it rained and lightning kept flashing, driving me up the wall. In spite of that I stayed with it so I was obviously enjoying it otherwise. If I had been bored with the game I would have quit rather than put up with that annoyance.

To love is to be happy with!

Phod, the casual list was created in January and we are due for another one right after the new year.

Thanks for the suggestions. How many hours of gameplay do these titles have on average? For example, something like Alabama Smith?

Phod, why not check the Gamezebo Reviews for any game that interests you?

They list Pro & Con for every game reviewed and they do tell you which games tend to be short.

I find the Gamezebo Reviews to be pretty darn good and I tend to stay away from games with very poor reviews.

Just a thought.

Phod

IMO Mystery Case Files are the best. At least demo Ravenhearst, Madame Fate, Return to Ravenhearst, and Dire Grove. Drawn the Painted Tower and Pahelika were great too. Just a few that I hope you try out and enjoy.

Phod, all the games have a thread here, just search the title and you will find all the info and opinions.

Oh one more question, with Big Fish do you have to join their monthly member service to download games? The monthly member service seems pretty decent considering you get a free game every month anyhow, just curious.

You don't have to join to get the $6.99 price anymore.

You don't get a free game every month.

They do have a FAQ to learn more about policy. I have been a member for 2+ years and have never had a problem with them that wasn't solved ASAP.

Hi Phod, Big Fish customer service is absolutely brilliant. If you have any difficulties, they sort it out quickly. I will add that one free game a month is but a drop in the ocean. I know I'm not alone in buying 6 or 7 a month, and at not much more than the price of a gallon of petrol here, that's a bargain. (who wants to go out when you have a good game to play anyway?)
