Simon games are bad since 4th one. I couldn't get into 4th it had a visually horrible simon the voice was totally off (not british) and very dull environment and stuff.

Not lookin forward to this ill read some reviews and watch utube gameplay vids to see how it is but i doubt id buy it.

Shame the series has gone to pot. frown

That's good news! I loved Simon 4, so I've been looking forward to Simon 5.

Skeeter -- was the Americanization of Simon really such a disaster? grin (A blunder of diplomacy?)

It is English from this announcement here:

Quote:

February 17th, 2010

For those players around the world or from outer galaxies, who would love to play the latest adventure of the famous magician and have not had a chance to grab a box in stores: Your prayers have been heard! TGC – The Games Company and its partners from various digital download portals are now able to offer you the latest adventure “Simon the Sorcerer 5 – Who´d Even Want Contact?!” as digital download version in full English language. That means fully localised spoken languages and on screen text with the typical humor of Simon and his friends. No matter if you are from Antarctica or other distant regions around the world – you could have as much fun with Simon 5 than all other retailers already had.

To Becky.

Yes it has ruined it. The voice doesn't match what i think to be simon, the look of him looks far too different (no ponytail and face looks horrible). His behaviour is very different to what we loved about him, being a snot nosed wise cracking sarcastic teenager, in these new games he's dull and isnt as bad as he was. No sordid. And many other oddities that turn it off which is also the gfx direction they took.

And about is it English version yeah its English thats just been released.

http://www.simon-the-sorcerer-5.de/forum...d611f5d637f2218

Not just me and i agree with their comments about lack of charisma the other voices of simon 1 and 2 and 3 had. It just isn't simon without the good old British accent, charisma, humour we gave to the simon games.

Plus simon games were special to me as it was British game and voiced because nowadays its hard to find a British voiced game that had a cockney character hehe.

Played a little of the demo Simon 5 but it was in German. Just wanted to see how the game play was and I liked it. I usually have the captions on anyway. I can't get out of the room and I don't understand German. The graphics were real good.

Count me in. I loved the first two Simon games. The third game seemed more like an arcade game to me but from what I have been told games four and five are more like the first two games. yay

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

Simon 3d is far funnier and better adventuring imo, ok it has basic gfx but i think it suits simon great. I'd rather have another simon 3d than 4 and possibly 5 imo.

For me, Simon's character has changed slightly with every game.

He was nowhere near as cheeky or rude in the original game.
[Still my favourite of the series.]

It was in Simon 2 that the "attitude" definitely jumped up a notch.

And he was cheeky again in Simon 3 but all the arcade stuff was not to my taste.

Then along comes the "new" Simon in 4 who is more adult - and personally I quite liked the change.

So if Simon in 5 is of the same ilk he'll do nicely for me thumbsup

Agree 100% with what SkeeterUK says. I haven't enjoyed a Simon game since the third one. I did buy and try the 4th in the series but found the voices so irritating that I couldn't finish it and game play was boring. So unless I read some very positive reviews on this one, I'll be giving it a miss.

I have to disagree with the arcade stuff ppl say about 3d it wasnt nearly as bad as ppl make it out to be and there was little arcade stuff in it it was adventure i think.

We don't seem to be talking about the same game, SkeeterUK ?? woozy

I experienced many horrible timed arcade sequences - which weren't made any easier by the dreadful controls and spasmodically bad graphics frown

Unfortunately Simon3D was finally released - years late - in a rather poor state.
Mainly because of difficulties relating to company takeovers that were going on at the time.
But that was no excuse for the inclusion of timed arcade sequences shame

I get the impression we (generally) prefer the Simon with the English accent, so kjos, put us out of our misery and tell us. I enjoyed Simon 3, but had to give up at the shooting sequence at the fair-ground. Simon 4 was painful due to complete change of character. I want to want 5. More feedback please.

Almost half done with the game and I think it is wonderful. No trouble with the English accent., no timed sequences. I used the hints a few times. Lot of saves. Played really good on my XP. You really don't need a walkthrough. I don't know why anybody wouldn't like this game. Awful hard to pull myself away from the game. You can save anywhere.

Inventory is in the bottom of the screen, put the cursor down on the bottom.
Becky what is a English accent? Is it the same as British. I'm from Florida and Simon sounds like me.

Richard...Do you combine things in inventory?

Do you have a large inventory?

Once in a while you combine things. Not to many things in the inventory. I have ten,but you can put as many things as you want in the inventory.
