I picked mine up earlier today and it is charging. The screen seems so much bigger than my old one (DS Lite). Can't wait to try it out and see what the games look like on it!

Got mine as well yesterday. Took a little while to set up the internet, but finally figured it out. Played Brain Age and it said I have the brain of a 71 yo! Although the 70 yo's aroud here are pretty sharp, I'm only 50.I am ejoying the bigger screen very much as well.

Thracia,

Wow, it is fantastic! I had a DS Lite and this one does so many more things and the bigger screen is great.

Just started playing last night for a little while. I haven't tried to set up the Internet part because my router needs to be reconnected. I think that my son is coming over to do that for me today while I am at work. Hopefully, getting online with it won't be too difficult to do since I have never downloaded games to the DS or Wii. Sounds like you might have had some trouble.

When I first tried to play Brain Age on my old DS, it said that my brain was 80 years old!! A friend said that she got the same message so I was wondering if everyone got the same age in the beginning. You are ahead since it said that you are only 71! Guess I had better get to work!

Gatsbygirl, it wasn't to hard to set up, once I figured what to do. I had to go to advanced setup on the XL, then press and hold some button on the top of my router, while the two communicated. That was it!

Now I don't feel so bad about havig an old brain. Probably got it from playing too many gameslol

Stupid question probably...but what kind of games are available for DSi XL? I would love to have a handheld player for the car trips etc. And as to the downloadable option, where do you get the downloadable games and where can you download the games from? Okay, I'm older (NOT OLD), and I just needed to ask these questions.

Thanks for the info...I have gone on the site to peruse the console...but I really didn't see many games of my genre there.

Again thanks in advance to all you who already own one!

Jody

Okay, now that they have finally released a
gaming system for us with slightly older eyes,
how about releasing games in a genre` more
to our taste?
Over 50 gamers are quickly becoming a large
part of their buying audience, aren't we?

jody319,katbear50, what kind of games are you interested in? There are adventue games, puzzle games, HO games, etc.(I saw Dream Chronicles, for example at Best Buy for 19.99).You could go to the Gamestop website and look up the games under the different genre's,(there are lots of games of all kinds). Also the downloaded games are through Nintendo, and you have to spend points for them.

thracia,

When my son reconnected my router he set up the Internet for my DS XL. He called me at work to tell me that he was watching a YouTube video on it and checking his email. I didn't have to mess with trying to figure out how to set it up. It is really so neat to be able to do this. I really like the XL and am so glad that I traded my other one in for it.

thracia, I would like non-action adventure games,
and some IHOGs.
I found the items in Millionheir too hard to see
on the DS lite.
And some fun games like So Blonde, or Ceville.
Right now I'm enjoying "Zenses: Rainforest",
and am looking for a Mahjong where you don't
have to rescue anyone.
Trying to get into the 2 Ace Attorney ones I just bought,
have begun Phoenix Wright, and have Apollo Justice too.
They seemed to have been highly touted,
but I find them to be a wee bit on the corny, overdramatic side so far.
Appear to be Japanese, and much of their media would seem to be that way. IMHO

katbear50, you could try these games: Hotel Dusk,Nancy Drew: Hidden Staircase,Clue Benders Society, and Model Mysteries. CSI Dark Motives,Trace Memory,Unsolved Crimes, Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars,Hardy Boys:Teasures on the Tracks,Professor Layton:Curious Village, and The Diabolical Box,Sherlock Holmes:Mustery of the Mummy,JamesPatterson WMC: Crimes of passion, Amazing Adventures,Dream Day Wedding:Dsstinations,Agatha Christie:ABC Murders, Mysteyr PI, just to name a few.

Some are hidden objects, some are puzzle games, some are adventure games. I have not tried all of these, they are on my list of games to play eventually. I find that Nintendo DS has the widest variety of games for all gamers.

Thracia...thank you for the help. You might have just pushed me more into the "yep gonna get it" column than I had thought before.

Again thanks...Jody

No Thracia, your mind isn't old from too many games. You are staying sharp because of too many games. Isn't it fun!

thracia,

Re : Chronicles of Mystery: Curse of the Ancients

Was just researching this DS game, and as with a number of them
this is what I've found:

This puzzler is a modified version of PC point ’n’ clicker
Chronicles of Mystery: The Scorpio Ritual.

This is confusing crazy

No, I already have the DS and the DSi and I am not springing for the new one.
I have too many games sitting on the shelf unplayed for both the Ds and PC.
Just can't justify buying a new DS.
