Nancy Drew like "The Creature of Kapu Cave"?

Even though I have read/enjoyed all the Nancy Drew Mysteries,
I have mostly been disappointed in the games.
However, the last one I played: Nancy Drew: "The Creature of Kapu Cave"
was an exception to the rule.
Therefore I am seeking advice on others that are similar.
{didn't care for the "Dossier" series especially.}

While we are on the subject,
I also enjoyed
"The Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft"
if this helps.

(PC or DS platforms.)

Hi kat,

What was it that you particularly enjoyed about Kapu? That'll help us with recommending a similar ND. smile Which ones haven't you played yet in the series?

Hi,

Some of my favorites: because of the puzzles and the interviewing and the actual mystery solving are

Legend of the Crystal Skull (I liked this one a lot, the people the place and the mystery)
Curse of Blackmoor manor (this was really fun and for me very hard)
Ghost Dogs of Moonlake (this was fun I enjoyed it)
The Final Scene (I enjoyed this one, it was fairly easy)
The Mystery Of the Scarlet Hand (lots of notes and a good mystery)
Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon (limited in places to go - since it all takes place on a train, but good puzzles.)

I'm with you, I've been pretty disappointed in some of them. So if these are some you haven't tried you might give them a whirl.

Ex(#17) Nancy Drew: Legend of Crystal Skull
Good storyline but alot of running in circles
and the Robot/Marble puzzles that had no skip clause.

(#15) Nancy Drew: "The Creature of Kapu Cave"
more laid back? and never got to a point where
I could go no further because of lack of solving a puzzle.

Have you played Chronicles of Mystery: The Scorpio Ritual?

I'd recommend Warnings at Waverly Academy if you're looking for a more laidback ND adventure. It's one of the easier games in the series too, I think.

I would avoid Ransom of the Seven Ships if you're in the mood for relaxation. That one is stuffed with stressful timed puzzles.

Katbear, The Creature of Kapu Cave is my absolute favourite ND game too. I definitely agree with the Warnings at Waverly recommendation and also that you should stay away from Ransom!

I also recommend The Secret of the Old Clock, which has a lovely 30s feel to it, and Danger by Design. Although there are one or two timed puzzles in Danger, if I recall correctly, I found them both fairly pain-free. I also really enjoyed the latest - Trail of the Twister - and found it quite a bit easier than the last few games.

Hope this helps!
