funlcake, I went through the nightmare of using the update for AVG 2011. Not only did I have a hard time downloading the update, installing it was not a run in the park. And after it did install it locked up my user profile. It took two or three more tries at installation before my user profile finally quit locking up.
This version acts more like a Beta version than a finished product. If you want to see the problems others are having, go to AVG's free forum.
Last weekend I installed avast! on our system. Because of what the internet security version offered I'm am at the moment trialing that version. It isn't free, but you get to trial the program for 30 days before it stops working or you buy the rights. So far, I've no complaints, none, zip, zlich, nada. In fact, compared to AVG, my system is running much better.
One other thing I thought of, funlcake. After you uninstall AVG run a search for AVG, just select files and programs and put AVG in the search line. What you may find, as I did, are the other folders AVG constructed during its time on your computer. I chose select all from the task bar and deleted these files. Once they were gone I ran another search just to make sure. I was really steamed at how AVG had treated my system so I wanted it all gone.
