Did you hear there's a new version of the classic adv game The Scroll in the works? Everything will be the same (they didn't want to change a single delicious moment)except it will be compatible with XP, Vista, and Windows 7. Barry... Duck for cover FAST!!! LOL
FYI If you never heard of the game it's on a ton of gamers list of the WORST adv game ever, rated as #1 in most cases. It was totally horrendous, unplayable (that's right you couldn't in most cases get it to play (could be the most bug invested game ever!!!! and if by some miracle you could get it to start you'd wind up with continuous computer crashes. Oh yeah lest I forget how about 18 action icons (that's right 18, better have your manual handy).
I've seen God, and his name is iPad. Let us pray yes, I do use my Hairbrush as a Microphone and Dance around in my Underwear. Thank you very much.

Lololol! I've got to get it. For years I heard about this game being the worst, and once even tried to buy it, I don't remember how. Maybe off ebay. Sent the money off and the guy never delivered. Since it was so cheap I didn't bother complaining about it. But, if they come out with a remake I'll be first in line. I just have to see how bad this is.

I just happened to see the post for best adv game of 2010 and I just couldn't resist posting this Ana. Can you imagine a whole new generation of adv gamers can be tortured by this horror, LOL.
Regards,
Barry

I played The Scroll years ago AND actually finished it It's an old game by Psygnosis. [Unfortunately, once Sony decided to swallow Psygnosis, they were never heard of again - hence no more Discworld games ] The game that got to ME the most was "The Sacred Mirror of Kofun". What a badly developed game THAT was .... Agggghhhhhh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this the game that's also known as Daughter of Serpents? There's a couple of small differences between The Scroll and Daughter of Serpents. For one thing, Daughter of Serpents allowed you the choice of 4 playable characters while The Scroll only allowed you a choice of two. From what I've read, there wasn't any difference between playing the missing characters and the two that were retained in The Scroll, which is why they were dispensed with. The other difference is that Daughter of Serpents came on floppy and The Scroll was on CD. I remember the aggravating problem with hotspots, where the hotspot for an object wouldn't actually be on the object but would be somewhere to the side or even diagonally away from the object and you'd have to go pixel-hunt searching for it. This problem extended to conversations where you'd click on one selection and the game would choose a different one. It was especially aggravating because clicking the wrong conversation choice could cause you to have to repeat the whole conversation sequence or even load a saved game and replay. You'd have to "guesstimate" where the hotspot for the phrase you wanted your character to say was, judging by what was actually chosen when you clicked that phrase. To make matters worse, the hotspot displacement wasn't consistent throughout the game, so with each conversation you had to go through the whole "guesstimation" process all over again. You couldn't depend on the actual hotspot always being 1/8 inch diagonally upward and to the right for every single object or conversation choice in the game. The Scroll was a stupid, aggravating game and I gave it away to someone on JA who was interested in playing the "worst adventure game."

Mad, I loved those Discworld games. They were so funny and the puzzles were great. I still list both of them on my recommendation list every year.
It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.
