I am well and truly stuck. I have gone up the ladder on the far side of the rotating room and wandered around pushing buttons and taking notes. Found a stairway down to the lower level and a couple of elevators. However I can't get the rotating room to turn to the ladder again, it just closes the door on far side and shows a ladder on the near side, that's blocked at the top. I've tried loading an earlier game, clear back to the first save, and they all have the same result. As if the later work is added into the early saves.

I seem to have missed getting a key and can't progress without it.

Is there anyway I can get the rotating room to let me up the ladder without having to start a new game?

Let's review the rotating passage.

If you come to the rotating passage from the outside; you will see a ladder but is blocked from above.
- You can climb the ladder only if you turn the ladder to be on the other side.
- There's a panel to the right of the entryway that will turn the rotating passage and a button that raises that panel to the top floor.
- There are 4 sides to that rotating passage.
- To get to the other side; turn the passage to open a path to the other side.
- There is a panel on the far side also that turns the rotating passage. This way, you can turn this path to get the ladder to the far side where you are.
- Climb the ladder to the upper part of the rotating part.
- Here you see 4 opening on the floor which corresponds to the sides of the rotating path.
- There is also a panel here that you can turn that floor around so you can position it where you can go down.

Now you know how to manipulate this passage and you can turn it which way you want.

Unfortunately that isn't what's happening. Yes, I did turn the room to the ladder on the other side earlier in the game and climbed that ladder, that's how I managed to wander around to find the stairs to the lower level. Now when I turn the far-side room to get to the ladder I get a blocked door. On the near side of the room I get a ladder that's blocked above with a wooden grating and that's it.

Looks like I will have to start a new game, again.

Uninstalled and re-installed, found my major problem was that I couldn't tell the difference between a closed steel door and the roof of the upper chamber.

I never claimed to be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but that is ridiculous. Ah well, on to the rest of the game~
