This advice is on the assumption that the game didn't quite install properly and some files are missing are damaged. I haven't been able to find anything with a Google search.

Try uninstalling the game and reinstalling with administrator priveleges (right-click the Setup file and choose Run As Administrator). Also if you have an antivirus that's doing real-time scanning, turn off the real-time scanning while you install. If the game is installing into C:\Program Files, try installing in My Documents instead.

I tried all the above already except for putting in doc folder. Also tried that last night, same thing!
I downloaded the game from amazon. So I should have bought the box version. I redownloaded also, did not help. I know they won't help in amazon. I will try playing the whole game through without a save, at least it plays well. Thanks

When you start the game, are you right-clicking and choosing to Run as administrator? Sometimes you have to do that too.

So much for that idea then.
Anyone else have any ideas? I'm not having much luck with a Google search.

About the only thing I can suggest is reinstalling the latest java runtimes - interesting, the game uses Java?

Edit -

Double check your Java Runtimes - make sure you're a 6.24 (see thread below)

Edna & Harvey performance issues (including crashes)

Is there something wrong with that site/link Inland. I checked it out and then my internet stopped responding and my Norton gave me a dump.exe warning??? What is that?

Also, how do you check Java Runtimes?

The above site link works fine for me oldbroad.
Check out this link and where you see FREE JAVA DOWNLOAD click on the words below it that says Do I Have Java. It will auto check what version of Java (if any) you have on your system and you can choose to update it from there.

The link worked fine but when I closed it my internet stopped responding (I had to end program through task manager and sign back in) and the Norton actually said dumprep.exe and high CPU usage?

I didn't have an problems in Firefox, IE or Google Chrome. Try rebooting and see what happens.

Cathy1 - thanks for the link to Java. I checked mine and had the little bit older version so I downloaded and installed the 6.24 and am hopefully ready for Edna & Harvey which I plan to play in the not too distant future.

Draclvr - it was not really worth me rebooting and trying again, I was just curious as to why it might have caused my internet to stop responding and my CPU usage to jump (if it even was the cause). Thankfully, since Cathy1 sent the Java link, I really don't have to worry about following that first link again. Sometimes I've noticed a slow down on page loading after I've followed a link in a thread. Don't know why!

Celtic - did you try the Java thing and did it help?

Yes I did the Java thing, but no it did not help. I just played the game all the way through yesterday, it only took 6 to 7 hours with a couple little breaks. Luck of the irish I don't got smile

Well, I'm glad you got to play the game but I sure hope I don't have to try playing straight through without saving!

Did Daedalic ever reply yet?
