Agreed! For me an adventure game is a new universe in a box. Just step inside and explore.

I think I know what you mean. I like stories, but only because they tie the universe together, giving it meaning, making it more interesting to explore. I have zero interest in the story for its own sake. Like when games say "zombies have appeared and your job is to destroy them" - no, I'd rather walk the other way and find someone interesting to talk to. smile

"zombies have appeared and your job is to destroy them"

I wouldn't call anything like that a "story" either !! woozy

A story, as far as I'm concerned, is what we're given in every Gabriel Knight or Tex Murphy game (as superior examples) and many other games besides - and it includes an unfolding plot with a beginning, middle and satisfactory end.

That's what I would expect in a "story" razz

Hi, EnterTheStory

I haven't played any AG where you have to destroy zombies....Or maybe be killed.....

I agree with you story isn't so important as long as there is plenty of investigation...Don't get me wrong ..I love a good story, as long as its good....Some are very "Lame" Some I get bored with....To me adventure is Investigation, and Inventory puzzles... smile

Hi Darleen smile

I also love new concepts. A lot of game stories feel like they're taken right out of TVTropes (dystopian future... kidnapped... X has happened and you have to get back to Y).

I love stories that are really new and different. I'm showing my age now, but Loom always stands out: musical magic and Swan Lake - beautiful!
