Just wondering what's happening at interact. Dave hasn't had any new games in months. I wonder if all the downloading has hurt his business. I keep checking every day and hasn't been any new releases.

Why don't you write him then? :-)

There's definitely definitely definitely no logic to human behaviour.

Kjos, I've been checking everyday too! Waiting for some of these games to show up for pre-order but....have to be patient I guess.

That's an interesting point you make, Richard. I was just at Best Buy today and noticed how small the PC game section was compared with the console games. Not only that, but most of the PC games on the shelf had been out for some time. I guess the trend is to download from places like Steam, and disc versions are going to become more scarce. Those older boxed versions we have might be very valuable antiques someday. grin

Lol! They already are, Ewilo2. Check the prices of Grim Fandango on Amazon. One optimistic (read 'out of his mind') seller wants nearly a hundred bucks for the game in a jewel case and a guy on Ebay has the original sealed box for $150.

I have no doubt that better known older games are going for even more if they're scarce enough.

You're probably right, though, in thinking download is the way it's going to be in the future. Ugh. Double ugh if it's from an outfit that requires you to connect through their client. As long as Dave keeps getting the boxed versions, I'll keep buying from him.

Gil.

I also really like giving my business to Dave at Interact. He is always great to deal with and helpfull. I prefer boxed versions of a game as I don't always want to play a game the moment I get it. I do download of course but still like getting games on disc...hopefully Dave will have more games soon.

I like a disk and have bought many from Dave smile

When things go wrong with one at least you have the satisfaction of being able to crump it, jump on it, smash it to smithereens, toss it from a great height .... and so on and so forth laugh

No such pleasure with a download. [For me anyway.] Just loads of HASSLE mad

Lol! I love your definition of the joys of owning a boxed copy, Mad! How true!

It's so much fun to sail a dreadful game out the window and you can't do that to a download unless you waste a disk and burn it first. Although, I suppose you could burn it and send the disk to the developer with appropriate comments written on it. lol

Its seem like it keeps getting smaller at my local bestbuy. They used to have about 24 feet of pc games, now i think it's down to 8, and most are hidden object games. That and some developers releasing games online through their own stores, i.e. Amnesia the Dark Descent, and it gets difficult to find games in stores anymore. I just bought my first adventure game in a store in almost two years.

Wasn't the latest boxed adventure game The Book of Unwritten Tales? At least that was the latest one I looked at when I last was at my local Game Stop...

Game Stop's even worse than Best Buy, Karsten. The last time I went there, there was only a small end cap rack with older PC games. I don't even bother to go there anymore. It's sad because it forces avid gamers to use services like Steam, Gamersgate, Big Fish etc when they would be hesitant to with internet security and fraud issues being in the news. It also leaves them open to problems like the Corrosion game debacle many have gone through...

Amen Traveler! I really don't care for downloads, as they use up too much memory. I've been waiting for the disc copy of Amber's Blood for days now. I've given up hope for some games on disc and have no intention of selling Grim Fandango or any of my other disc games. I have GOG-ged (with the exception of one more oldie I'm hoping for: RIPPER)and Big Fished myself out with downloads.

As I'm in Denmark it might be a bit different than in the US, I think? There's still a wall reserved for pc games at my local Game Stop (which used to be EB Games some time ago).

However, the adventure games are few and far between. And I always try to buy the adventure games that they have - if I can afford it.

Hi all!

My ears were burning so I had to come check in.

As Ana said, basically there just haven't been any games lately. Very sad and a bit frustrating. As far as pre-orders go, I'm more and more hesitant to list them. People paid for Bracken Tor in October 2010 and have yet to receive anything and I'm just not very comfortable with that.

Anyway, I'm still here, the store is still in business and I appreciate all of you who have been customers throughout the years. May will mark our 18th year!!

Dave

Dave,

I say list the games as "coming soon" even if you don't know the exact date. That way we at least know you plan on having them and will wait patiently for them to come in. I hate when I think you're not getting something in and I order it from Amazon and then it shows up on your site. Makes me feel guilty!

I've had Bracken Tor on pre-order since you listed it but I know it's not your fault you don't have it yet and you did not charge me for it. You don't charge until you ship, so no harm there. Or are you referring to people who use pay pal? Does pay pal require immediate payment?

Jackie

oldbroad, Dave has sold had every adventure game that has been released either as an Import or domestic retail. He generally outs the games up for preorder a few weeks before a "firm" date is provided. You can count on him to get them.

I believe I am going to count on Dave to have some hard copies of Corrosion Cold Winter Waiting so I can buy myself a copy from him.

Hard copies of games are (IMMHO) more fun to get than d/l's b/c 1) I can take a pic of them and post the pics over at Adventure Point in the Spend, Spend, Spend thread Gelert has over there exclusively for game-buying, 2) they're easy to sell/trade over at GameTZ and 3) they're better to trade here in the TP here at GB.
