For those of you who need instructions for cryptic crossword clues, check out this page . These have all been created by a variety of well-known constructors. There may be one or two that we might question, but they're still fun. Please explain all answers. -1. Leader of battleships follows a route overseas (6) -2. Surf is bound to be heard (4) -3. Party demonstrator (6) -4. Central America's educators boxed in? (5) -5. Competitor in tournament ran third (7) -6. Authorizations for fellow on June 2 and July 3, for example (8) -7. Secure in addition to holding a job (8) -8. Explorer, heading north on business, leaves from Havana? (7) -9. Move back and forth on a cart (5) -10. Scholar's shell is a battle souvenir (4)
The moon is actually more useful than the sun since the moon gives us light at night when it's dark. The sun only gives us light during the day when it's already bright out.

Oh dear, I wondered why this one was sitting. It's a 6-letter answer. I'm so very sorry.
The moon is actually more useful than the sun since the moon gives us light at night when it's dark. The sun only gives us light during the day when it's already bright out.

Denis, surprisingly, I don't think shower and clean are direct synonyms. They're related, but not directly interchangeable.
