A single rose can be my garden... a single friend, my world. ~Leo Buscaglia********************** PARAPROSDOKIANS (Winston Churchill loved them) are figures of speech in which the latter part of a sentence or phrase is surprising or unexpected and frequently humorous: 1. Where there's a will, I want to be in it. 2. The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But it's still on my list. 3. Since light travels faster than sound, some people appear bright until you hear them speak. 4. If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong. 5. We never really grow up; we only learn how to act in public. 6. War does not determine who is right - only who is left.. 7. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad. 8. They begin the evening news with 'Good Evening,' then proceed to tell you why it isn't. 9. To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research. 10. Buses stop in bus stations. Trains stop in train stations. On my desk is a work station. 11. I thought I wanted a career. Turns out I just wanted paychecks. 12. I asked God for a bike, but I know God doesn't work that way. So I stole a bike and asked for forgiveness. 13. I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you. 14. Women will never be equal to men until they can walk down the street with a bald head and a beer gut, and still think they are sexy. 15. Behind every successful man is his woman. Behind the fall of a successful man is usually another woman. 16. A clear conscience is the sign of a fuzzy memory. 17. You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice. 18. Money can't buy happiness, but it sure makes misery easier to live with. 19. I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure. 20. To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target. 21. Nostalgia isn't what it used to be. 22. Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine. 23. Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car. 24. I am neither for nor against apathy. 25. Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. 26. I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather, not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car. 27. How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire? 28. Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish. 29. The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas! 30. Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won't expect it back. 31. Hospitality: making your guests feel like they're at home, even if you wish they were. 32. A bus is a vehicle that runs twice as fast when you are after it as when you are in it. 33. When tempted to fight fire with fire, remember that the Fire Department usually uses water. 34. Some cause happiness wherever they go. Others whenever they go. ******************* You will be happy to know that I will be turning the keys to the Diner back to Joe today. I missed you Joe! I will run the dogs in the morning, work until hubby comes home and then it's off to Top Golf for dinner, live music and golf with hubby, daughter and SIL. It's my favorite place to go on a date! I hope you all have a great Friday! Let the weekend begin! Ana

Good morning, it's Friday all around the world... (I guess?)... Ana: yes, we love to have Joe back, but we loved your opening the Diner for him too! Thank you for all your work and time for us Would that be the real thing (golf) or miniature golf? Either way: enjoy! Joe: welcome back home Haroula: Kalimera Sue: 100F - puhhhh how hot. Stay cool and inside the house if possible. Gerry: good morning to you. L4L/Soot: I hope the plumber could help yesterday. What a mess. Lotus: prayers heading your and Mum's way! HUGS And a good morning to all who come after me to the best and nicest Diner in town. We have been invited to supper by one of our neighbors yesterday. We have been in a "Agriturismo" and here 's the link. It was spectacular, the view and also the food. We had a very nice evening with the couple. She is an artist too (painter) and we had a lively discussion about art. Live is good. Today is relaxing day because temps here too are very hot (87F) and the humidity sky high. In the afternoon an official from the insurance company is visiting us to talk about the break in we had in November last year. If he want to leave his ventilated office to come up the hills to visit us in this heat, that's his problem.. To all of you I wish cooler temps and a nice day. Evelyne

Good morning everyone. Joe, Hugs. High temps and humidity are normal for here all summer, which lasts 4 to 5 months. I'm not thrilled with living in Florida, but hubby is. We've lived here since 1963, and I'm still not used to it. Going shopping and to lunch with best friend today. It's been awhile since we've gotten to go out together. To all here and all who follow, have a Wonderful TGIF. Danish, BB Pancakes, and Fresh Fruit in the NC.

Hi Boomers! Hope everyone is well! Ana, you've done a great job opening the diner every day! Joe, will be great to see you back...hugs! Another steamy hot day here...we actually have heat warnings in place, most unusual for Scotland! I'm in the kitchen today, baking and prepping...trying everything I can think of to keep my work area cool! Will post pics of some more of my cakes when I get some time to myself. Have a great day all! Mary

Ana, thanks for opening the Diner this week! You're awesome! My sentiments exactly Darlene. Thank you very much Ana. Good morning everybody. Thankfully this is my scheduled day off. I'm weary from all the folks running through the house, and of course the events of the week. My son is still here. He's leaving later today or tomorrow. The oldest of my sisters is still here to help clean up. After that it's just my younger sister, and I left. It was a long week, and I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for all the continuous thoughts, and prayers. Much appreciated. Tomorrow I'll be back at work and back to living my life. It's nice to be back. I hope you're all having a great day. joe

Fantastic Friday ya'll Hubby is furloughed today, so we will use the time to get some house chores done. Since the laundry room flooded, hubby moved everything from there into the den. So we will go through it all and toss toss toss before we reassemble the room. The flood last night was my fault The plumbers came around supper time and fixed the original problem. Then, trying to be helpful, I cleaned out a filter in the washer that has to be screwed in and out. Well, apparently I didn't get it back in correctly. The washer wasn't working 'cos hubby had turned the water off to it because of the flood, but he hadn't told me. He turned it back on when he got home, we ran a wash, and presto chango...flood from the filter being not seated correctly. So, now laundry room floor is dry and the washer works I'll be doing some reorganizing in the kitchen today as that is the easiest room to hang in with Keoki. I'll also be baking bread as soon as I post. We are out. It's always so fun to bake in the summer cos stuff rises fast! We are hot hot hot and humid humid humid, but as Connie says, we will be that until at least Sept. Joe, so happy to have you back. See you guys after I get some kitchen stuff accomplished.

Enjoy your sons company while you can. That is nice of sister to stay and help. Darlene, I hope you have a fun and relaxing weekend planned. Mary, I have seen your cakes on FB as well and you are an artist! You are very talented! Gail, I hope the doctors appt goes well. Connie, where did you move from when you went to Florida? Have a great lunch. Sharon, be careful out there! Venus, have a good day! Evelyne, the place looks wonderful. How fun! Top Golf is like playing darts with a golf ball. You can see the field Here. We play on a deck on the third floor in the open air and the view of sunsets is beautiful. Gerry, be careful walking in the heat. Sue, do you use your swimming pool in this weather? Haroula, is it a beach day? Okay...off to the river with the dogs before it gets hotter. Have a happy day!

L4L, Connie's in Florida. There are many gators in the lakes there. They are fond of poodles and other small dogs and cats. Everybody thinks how neat it would be to have a water view (like a lake in your back yard) from your home in FL. Not me! I would want to be as far from the small lakes and canals as I could get. No gator neighbors for me! Andrea

Andrea, that is hysterical. I totally misread that sentence and thought Connie was telling Cailyn there were gators in Cailyn's lake. I missed the word "here." Bread is made, kitchen is cleaned, car is dropped off for service and now I'm going to go fold clothes and after that, make dinner. Sweet dreams Haroula
