I have just learned that ABC has signed an option to make a miniseries fro Patrick Rothfuss's books. Now that "Enders Game" has been done, my next nomination would be William Gibson's "Neuromancer".

I find myself disappointed when they turn a good book into a movie. I find my imagination is better. lol

You know I usually say the book was so much better than the movie and even though A Song of Ice and Fire are my favorite books I think HBO has done a great job with the Game of Thrones series.

I'm excited to see the Patrick Rothfuss series. His books are excellent.

Here are just a few of the books I would like to see made into movies/mini series:

Anything by Dan Brown
Best Served Cold by Joe Abercrombie
Riyria series by Michael J. Sullivan
The Second Sons trilogy by Jennifer Fallon

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

I would love to see a movie made from any of the books by Anne Perry.

I have a similar opinion to that of BrownEyedTigre smile

It's a rare occurence for me to feel a film has been as good as the book it's been adapted from.
[There's usually been too much "adapting" !! thumbsdown ]

And also, it's not likely that a film can ever be long enough to carry all the detail that made the book so interesting rolleyes

But I do still watch films, of course lol

I feel mostly as Ana in that I like my own interpretation best. However if...I agree with Space in that they did a pretty great job of The Game of Thrones series. I also like Dan Brown and am just finishing Inferno. Also The Event Series would be wonderful if they followed the story as close as possible. I believe they are written by David Golman...very good reading!!

Many books I like would not translate well into a visual media. As much as I love Iain Banks' Culture books, I doubt a movie would do them justice. Same with Malazan Book of the Fallen, Hyperion Cantos and the Baroque Cycle.
Some that might:
The Silmarillion (about as much chance of being made as GK4)
Otherland by Tad Williams
REAMDE by Neal Stephenson
Red Country by Joe Abercrombie

I'd like to see them tackle the Hyperion Cantos as well. High on my list would be Anne McCaffrey's Pern books and more faithful adaptations of The Sword Of Truth and The Dresden Files series.

Ohhh Jarkeld, Dresden would be great. There was a series but it only lasted 1 season. I watched it on Prime. Would love to see it done again. wave

In general, I would agree with most of the responders here, in that I find the images in my head from reading more satisfying. However, I do enjoy the movies as a means of seeing how someone else visualized the same book. Someone with a Hollywood budget for costumes and scenery no less.
