Jenny and TLC, bigal has my saved game now but cannot find (on the harddrive) just where to load it to - it has been a while since I played this and I don't know if I still have the game on my computer so I will have to install it and find out just where those saved games go - can either of you help out here? Do you still have it on your computer so you can tell us the path to where the saved games are residing? Thanks Love, Betty Lou

I finished the game and uninstalled it. Bigal can go to windows explorer and find the C:\overseer file and open folders until he sees the list of saved games. That's what I did, before I installed the saved game from you. I hope this helps.

Good Morning bigal,(and all you GBers too) I emailed you the 'log' file for the saved games, I forgot that this is one of those games where you need the 'log' with the save - it will, of course, overwrite your 'log' (just say yes when you are asked) but you and I both should have done all the same stuff up to that point or you would not be there (on the wall) anyway......if you install this 'log' file with the saves you should be on your way - sorry about that - should have thought to check it out when I sent you the saved game.....computers can be so confusing and frustrating - but ya know, I have learned more about my computer, the internet and using email since I started playing these adventure games, than I think I would have without them....and it is fun (most of the time)...have a great weekend. Love, Betty Lou

I don't think you need any log file. Also the "name" may cause a clash. AFAIK, every Save is 'listed' with the name that the player gave it ... e.g. I inserted at the VERY beginning of my game <<Player ~~~~ LEN>> ... hence all my Saves are LEN.000, LEN.001 --- LEN.023 --- LEN.102 --- etc. So if Betty Lou sent you a single Save for immediately AFTER the fatal cut scene called, say, "Betty.027" then all you have to do is to insert it into your C:\Overseer\games (or whatever) subdirectory, and restart the game INSERTING AT THE BEGINNING <<Player ~~~~ Betty>>. BTW ... You can STILL access your own previous Saves by choosing your name instead of "Betty's"! Hope that's reasonably clear ???

**** A BIT LATER **** I looked at my "Overseer" Directory (I'm from the old firm ... today it's called "Folder" ... BTW ... what do MS call a sub-sub-directory ??? a sub-sub-folder? ) and I can't see ANY "LOG FILE". We ARE *all* talking about the frustrating ** 5 CD ** version aren't we?? --- you know ... change CD's every 5 minutes! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="confused.gif" /> I tried the DVD version but unfortunately can't get it to work on my setup !

If bigal has copied my save into his saved game file and it does not show up in the list of "LOAD" saves when he starts up the game then he has a problem - my only suggestion is that he must have my .plr file (which is like a log of all the saved games) in order to make it show up and work.....otherwise I don't know what the problem is. Thanks Len, I thought that was how it worked. Some of the games do it this way and others don't....Also my save should work for him without his losing what HE did before that point as he would not be where he is right now if he had not accomplished everything he was supposed to up to that point. And, come to think of it, in this game that is exactly how it works as this save I am sharing with so many who get stuck on that wall actually came from another GBer who succeeded in 'beating' this part - if I had not received this save I would still be sitting on that wall with everyone else. I should try this game. I have it. BTW: Why do you have your screensaver on? I thought things ran best when all was disabled. Just a thought. I'm sure you know this and meant desktop. I never want to be known for "slapping hands." Enjoy your game!

Although I believe that many people rate the Pandora Directive as the best of the series, IMHO Overseer is still a really excellent game! Since several players have got stuck for different reasons and needed a Save game (including myself once, as described previously), there is an alternative method of utilizing somebody else's Save Game. Some gamers may find the following more 'elegant' (and probably even easier? )... depends !! To reduce writing, I'm using the same names as in previous postings (i.e. The Save has been sent from Betty to Bigal). (BTW :- In this procedure you do not have to touch C:\Overseer\players at all ... ONLY C:\Overseer\games.) (1) Copy 'Betty.027' (say) into C:\Overseer\games (2) Look in C:\Overseer\games to see what is your most recent Save ... let's say it's 'Bigal.31'. (3) Rename 'Betty.027' to 'Bigal.032' ~~~~~~~ F I N I T O ~~~~~~~

All I did when Betty sent me the saved game and after I found the saves file. I changed the name of the file to my name & .# before I downloaded and sent it to the Overseer saves file. Then I downloaded it again and put it in another file for safekeeping.
