Trying to purchase some games but after hitting the button to complete the purchase, it is just spooling away. It's been about a half hour now. Don't know if they're just so busy it's tied up or what. Don't see any way to stop it and try again.
Edit. Shoot. Now I right clicked on that button and hit "back" which stopped the spooling. The items are still in my cart but it says that I can only gift the items since I already own them, so I looked on my shelf and the games are there but I know the purchase did not go through. Or at least I didn't get any confirmation. Not sure what to do.
Anybody else have this happen to them?

Send in a support ticket, oldbroad, and tell them exactly what's happening. GOG just "upgraded" their site and made a huge mess of it and I don't mean just visually. Bugs are being reported right and left in the forum and always the suggestion is to write to Support. So, make sure they know you bought (or tried to buy) The Black Mirror so you'll still be able to get it after the sale ends and they dump the games.

Well, it is the weekend, oldbroad, and GOG is based in Poland. Not to mention that they must have lots of these support tickets coming through. I'm sure you'll get an answer. Now, if you could just clean up that website that looks as if Microsoft paid them to make it look like Windows 8, you'd have my eternal gratitude! Gil.

No, it's not the Grid or List view I'm talking about, Starcom, it's the entire site and particularly the front page. It's ugly as sin, grey...grey...grey, which I find really tiring on my eyes when I'm trying to read something, and it does not display well in my browser. Not to mention it has that horrible, far too big tab bar across the top that follows you and refuses to go away.
The old format was inviting and made me want to spend a while, browsing through what was on offer, blowing money now and then on an impulse buy or two. Now I get on, try to figure out what's on sale and what's new and have to click through a couple of pages for whatever I check to do it. I check a lot less now. I do not hang around. Getting no joy from the front page, I head straight for the forum...and more eye strain. That's probably going to save me money, though, since I'll be way less likely to buy games unless they're deeply discounted. So maybe I should thank the mobile crowd (and some nitwit site designer) for having such a big influence on a site that sells PC games, you think?
Gil.

Not arguing traveler but what "horrible, far too big tab across the top that follows you and refuses to go away" are you talking about? Probably that 5/8 inch thick toolbar that runs across the top of the page. It's there on every page.

Yes. And my icon, or avatar if you will, is no longer there with my Account so it's not immediately obvious if I'm signed in. Gil.

I am with Mad and oldbroad on this one, the changes are not so bad and I feel sorry for those who find it hard to read, I know how it is, my eyes are not in the best of shape and hate it when changes are made, for me, it is when they change it to "Bright Colours" like Green or Yellow or Red, then I have to quit reading or highlight the entire text in order to continue reading... But I imagine if enough people complain to GOG they could make some changes..
And remember how many people complained when Big Fish changed their site? I know, I was one who did not like it at first and took awhile to adjust to it...

I wouldn't mind the gray as much if the pics on the left weren't so washed out. I don't like a garish "in your face" look, but this just sort of makes me want to close the tab.

I actually quite like the way they have the site set up - it's easy to navigate and I don't even mind the big toolbar following me around and a glance at it tells me I'm logged in. I just don't like the washed out look...

I just think it's ugly. The flat look is ugly. The yellowish gray color scheme is ugly. The game screens on the left side of the home page look washed out instead of colorful. And garbage popups of various sorts jump at you all the while you move your mouse across the page, blocking your view of what you actually want to select. Better be REALLY careful how you move your mouse around. I actually thought their site looked the best when they first started selling games. Since then every change has looked worse. We went for a fresh, mobile-friendly design that should make it even easier to find the games you want Yet they don't sell games for mobile -- so why make the site look like it was designed for mobile?

Hmmm... I have never gotten popups. I just went there and no matter how hard I tried to get one, I never did. And I tried going to different pages on the site and still didn't get any popups. I don't have Adblock or any other popup blockers on my browsers.

I've only checked the main page so I can't say if there are popups anywhere else but I didn't get any on the main page either, Drac. (I do, however, use Ghostery.) Could it have anything to do with your browser of choice, Jenny? GOG's website designers don't care how the site looks in my older version of Opera.. The prices are all off-center, as is 'owned', and the text beside the games on the left is large and truncated. Well, poop on them. For various reasons, I'm sticking with Opera 12.whatever and poop on GOG if (like a number of others) they think they can dictate what browser or version of it I use. Poop on them anyway. That grey text on a grey background is making my eyes burn. Edit: Oh, Marian, you have lots of marbles! Bright, colorful ones, too! I'd pick mine up in a minute if I had any idea where they'd gone. Gil.

My version of Opera - 23, I think - shows everything just fine. And no popups there either.

I sent GOG a support ticket last night to let them know that their site is not only pretentious, boring and drab, AFAIC, but the text on the left is too large and truncated in my browser and on the right...it just plain ain't there. There is no text at all beside any of those tiny game icons on which it is next to impossible to read the name.
Edit: And now I can't even post in the forums. A reply page comes up totally blank with a little icon circling...and circling...and circling. I gave up after two minutes. Whether that has anything to do with my browser, I don't know yet. It may just be another site glitch making itself known.
More fun from GOG.
Gil.

So sorry your favorite site is giving you so much trouble traveler. Hope they can get you liking it better again. I agree. And I'm glad that you wrote to GOG, telling them what you think about the changes to their website. If they get enough feedback that is less than positive, perhaps they will consider making some adjustments.

I've just had a look over the new GoG site and I can see where they're coming from. The re-design is very much in the mode of a lot of modern sites where accessibility to the content when using mobile devices (tablets or phones). We're doing very similar things to our sites at work. The driving feature is making the content work on a small touch screen, whilst not breaking the desktop PC version. In my opinion, they've actually done a reasonably good job, assuming you're using an up-to-date browser version. Though I do agree that their choice of colours is a little ... muted ... for my taste. If you're not using an up-to-date browser, you better have a bl**dy good reason, because older browsers are - slower performers,
- less secure (sometimes significantly so),
- support HTML 5 poorly or not at all (so you'll miss out on modern web-site functions), and
- an absolute pain-in-the-butt to people who's professional life is seriously hampered by people who stick to IE 7 (or similar) like me.
The longer you stick with an old browser, the poorer your experience of the web will be, and the more likely you are to suffer from malware. That's the long and short of it. And traveler, I'm afraid if you stick with Opera 12 out of some mis-guided opposition to the Chromium engine, you're right there with the IE 7 crowd... but in a much smaller boat, where business managers will never want to justify the effort of testing for compliance with your old browser (let alone actually fixing any issues found) because it'll be for such a small percentage of the customer base. (See http://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php if you think I'm wrong)

Never mind. Linux version 12.16 is the current version of Opera, but the Windows version has a different numbering system. Jenny, Would you rephrase that? I'm afraid I didn't understand you at all. What does Linux have to do with Opera? Gil.

Gremlin, it's good to hear from someone who has to deal with this in the real world.
Not that I use it, but I think my version of Opera is 23 or something like that.

What does Linux have to do with Opera? Gil. You might as well ask what Windows or Mac have to do with Opera. Current version of Opera for Linux is version 12.16 Current version of Opera for Mac is version 24.0.1558.53 Current version of Opera for Windows is version 24.0.1558.53 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opera_%28web_browser%29I'd give you links to the download lists at the Opera website, but the opera.com website is giving me bad gateway errors at the moment so the links wouldn't work.

Okay, thanks, I've got you now. Drac, I think you'll find that the complaints about GOG in the forum have very little to do with 'my' version of Opera and many of them are coming from people with mobile devices. Oh, Gremlin...misguided? This from someone who uses IE7 (or similar)? Gil.
