It's not clear whether a word or phrase was already in existence in Shakespeare's lifetime or if he invented it. In any case, his plays provide us with the earliest use of many of these phrases. Can you name that play? = 1. "Own flesh and blood" = 2. "Truth will out" = 3. "Zany" = 4. "Give the devil his due" = 5. "There's method in my madness" = 6. "Salad days" = 7. "Wear your heart on your sleeve" 8. "Spotless reputation" = 9. "Full circle" = 10. "There's the rub" = 11. "All of a sudden"

7. Othello The only reason I know it is that Sky Arts televised Othello live from the London Globe Theatre and both me and Mrs Worrier picked up on the phrase.
To waste one second of one's life is a betrayal of one's self. I wonder what's on television...?
