Patzi, this is definately a unique game. I'm playing it too and it is very confusing. I think you are in the correct place. Bos comes after Aphebis. I don't know if this game is linear or not. Have you seen the WT? I am following that as close as I can. Good luck. Kay

The square box that you click on is located to the bottom right of screen picture. Its very small and easy to overlook. Look again and see if you can find it. Kay

Hi, Patzi!
Ah yes, good old CHNOUPH! Don't you find that once you start collecting letters, the stars begin to gravitate towards you?
The key to solving CHNOUPH is not to move around very much because, the more you move, the more the letters spread out and the easier target you are for the stars. Pick up your letters and then stay still until you see either your next letter or a star heading your way.

Dear Rockingrjranch, and "HI!, and Welcome!" to our newest moderator (Kay... that's my family name, too!)
I was re-playing this game last night to see if it was as hard the second time, when I got stuck at Sol Invictus. The first time, I just played it 'til I got it, probably took quite awile, if I remember correctly, But got thru it last night, in just 3 tries (Oh, and I like to turn of the sound for these- less nerve-wracking). Big Spoiler!!! . . . . . . . . . . . I kept thinking it would be nice if you could pause the game for just a sec, so you could look for the next letter, or avoid the stars. You can but not with the Pause button (of course)! Hold down the PRINT SCREEN button (at least on the Win XP keyboard), find your next letter, or place you want to zoom away from 'cause there are 4!!!! stars aiming their pointy little heads at you, then let go of hold button just a bit, to adjust if neccesary, or if ready, let go and get that letter! Then, hit that nice "hold" button and look for the next letter. If it's not on the screen yet, let go of button until it comes up, click it and release button again. Hope this helps,
Kathy O

Hi, everyone!
I *finally* made it through PEPISOTH, and now I'm stuck on the second part of VARI where I have to move the rings and tabs around. I've looked at the picture in the walkthru and am pretty sure I've got it right, but nothing happens.
I'm sure the music is key, so what should it be doing if I'm on the right track?
Thanks!

I need help on the Soithir. I have grouped the lights over Agia Sophia but nothing happens. I have even tried grouping them on top of one another (very difficult) but nothing. They are all in the dotted square and I am getting frustrated. Other than that this has been a great game.

Hi, Dudemom!
SOTHIR gave me fits as well because, no matter what I did, nothing happened. Try moving the lights towards the right side of the dotted square making sure they're still above "Agia Sophia" and see what happens.
I have a feeling that the game felt sorry for me and solved the puzzle all by itself because, all of a sudden, the screen went black :-)!

Dear Dudemom, what she said, should work! (to the right of dotted line. The lights seem to move like reversed polarity or magnets.
Hey Susie! If you are having trouble, it may be because you are trying to follow the solution for the European version (the one by Gamehound here at the 'Boomers) of In Memoriam's VARI puzzle. They changed this puzzle for the Missing, American game. Now, If you are hearing loud music, this is good! That's what got me thru this 2nd part (the cities are the next, and last, part of VARI).
Use the tabs to eliminate the larger static noises, but, and I think this may be different, too, the RINGS will be the ones to shut of all noise and leave the voices. If I remember, there were 2 tabs in the middle, 1 on top.
Unless you have gotten rid of most of, or all the white noise, fine tune the music with the audio buttons, tweaking RINGS if necessary. After you've hit it just right, the white noise will quit, and you will only hear music. Then just keep hitting that seemingly useless audio button- hey, it does work!
It will gradually resolve from the singing, to a man's voice, saying the names in the correct order for you to click on for the 3rd pary of VARI. As you go over the stars, a lady's voice will tell you the name of each city. That should get you there. Have fun!

The audio buttom is the one on the toolbar, the one you use for looking at movies, internet, etc, not the blackish button in the middle of the puzzle. It does nothing. Open up your toolbar, click it, shut it to listen to the music, see if the music starts sounding less confused. You must click and exit to listen a number of times, and use the rings as well. When the music starts sounding like people singing a song together, instead of a bunch of different songs, you're almost there!!

Hi All. Sothir is driving me mad! The last time this happened was in the Skyport maze in MJ2. I have tried to the right of the dotted line, tried, as you did Dudemom_2000, in lumping them together. Nothing is working. Do they have to be vertical, horizontal or doesn't it matter. Please, please help.

Hi, Kathy!
I downloaded the sound tool from the website contained in one of the Emails and, unless I'm missing something, it's not on my toolbar. The instructions state to launch the toolbar and then type in "ST1732", but nothing happens except I can't move the tabs around anymore.
VARI is the last one I have left to solve in this section.

VARI was my last for this section, too, and the rings and tabs about drove me crazy. Camethisclose to taking a hammer to the CD! It sounds like you did it correctly, launch the toolbar and then type in "ST1732". I just looked and your toolbar should now have 5 buttons- Email, Internet, Films, Analyse, and the new one, Audio. On top of that,it sounds like you're close, the tabs did that for ne, froze up, just before I tweaked the rings correctly, According to Gamehound , who didn't get his emails soon enough, you don't HAVE to have the tool- he solved it without, You might want to try tweaking the rings and listening for the voices to resolve themselves into one song. Could work. Luck, Susie!

Hi, Kathy!
After downloading the sound tool, I launched the toolbar and typed in "ST1732", but it still only has 3 buttons (Email, Internet and Films). I didn't download the Analyse tool for pictures because I was able to solve them without it ... so far <G>.
I've tried tweaking those rings but, so far, nothing.

Well, even tho Gamehound didn't use either at the time he solved the puzzles, he DID download them later. Maybe the game is recognizing that you don't have all the tools, so won't give you the last one. I kind of liked the other tool, Amalyse, that you didn't "download"- was able to stop anywhere, and greatly magnify ((basically a small Adobe Acrobat tyoe tool). Was able to see a lot in the film that way- got a fairly close look at the killers, and am almost sure that the woman with black hair is played by- Karen! Appropriate because the woman in the film is supposed to be her mother. Karen would be the little girl in this movie, taken in 1976, and the person taking the film would be?... her father, Volker. Anyhow, it might be worth taking a shot and installing both. You don't need to be hooked up to the internet- it's not really a download, as you can see from the explanation at the beginning of Gamehound's walkthru- the 2 tools are in the game. You just need to input the codes. Might be worth a shot.

Thanks for all the help! I managed to nudge the circled down and to the side and got the screen to go blank. I really didn't think they were "above" Agia Sophia, though...(mean serial killer!) Now I am stuck moving the spider on the tiles through Epichanaus. I got the first one but the second one, the first moving tile won't let me progress any further. Any suggestions?
Other than the arcade game blues this game has some novel and really great ideas. Hopefully someone will come up with another game that would cause you to do research the way this one has. I really like doing that and have found those parts quite easy to do.

Ok. Now that I posted, I figured out the spider. Now I am stuck on Soon. I hate the "arcade" stuff but the rest of it is good.
