Hi fellow Boomers,
I have recently purchased this game from STEAM. The specs say that the game can be played on WIN XP, which is my OS. It always crashes in the same place. I read in the "Steam Community" that somebody else is experiencing the same problem on his\her WIN XP computer. Going to Steam "Support", just gives you the website of the developer, so I went to THAT support page and I filled out the form stating my problem and sent it. I got a message that "my request was received" showed on my screen. OK, I'm still waiting for a "reply", but I have a feeling that I will never get that reply.
OH, BTW, the same game does NOT crash on my wife's VISTA PC.
Has anybody who has this game on a WIN XP PC had this problem as well, and by some form of "magic", has been able to "fix" it? Thanks.
Sandy

This sounds like it could be a video card problem. Check to see that your video card meets the requirements stated on the game. Your wife probably has a different video card in her computer.

Check your version as well, there was a patch released last month. It could also be related to a driver issue, make sure your video drivers are up to date.

The system requirements I found say the game requires a minimum of a Geforce GTX275 or ATI 4670HD video card. If you have that or better, check your video drivers like Inland says.

If the game only crashes at one place, but not on your Vista computer, it might be best to just use the Vista computer to get past the crashy place than to spend a lot of time trying to figure out why it crashes at the one place on the XP computer.

Or do you mean it always crashes every time you visit a certain location? If that's the case, and your video card meets the requirement, you might want to try an uninstall/reinstall of the game.

Hi Jenny and Inland and Geo,
My video card exceeds the minimum requirements of this game, my video drivers are up to date, I've uninstalled the game (purchased from Steam)and reinstalled it, but still having the same crash problem at the very same place early on in the game. if this place could be skipped I would try that, Jenny, but unfortunately it occurs right after an unavoidable "cut scene. Thank you all for your input. I guess I'll just have to use the Vista PC to play this one

The latest video drivers aren't always the best.

Also, you mentioned you had a Geforce GT430 in ***this thread***.
Is that the card you still have?
The GT430 is actually not a better card than the GTX275.

Hi Jenny,
Yes I do have the GT430 card, and I'm just not ready to make any changes on my "Dinosaur" WIN XP comuter. I'll just play this game on the VISTA computer.
BTW "Fran Bow" and "Contrast" also will not run on my Win XP PC, but DO run well on the Vista PC. Go figure! Thanks for your feedback.
