As long as I'm using the pc it's fine. However, if it's just sitting idle the screen goes back but I can see the cursor if I move the mouse but have to hit windows key on keyboard or ctrl, alt, delete to get the screen to come up. Any idea what's going on? Thanks, Terri

Sure... right click the desktop and select Personalize. Look at the bottom right where it says Screensaver. It may have Blank selected. If so, that's your problem. Click on it and then in the dropdown menu select None. Why in the name of heaven Microsoft put the stupid "Blank" in the screensaver options is a mystery to me, but it has caused me no end of aggravation with calls from people.

Nope, I actually show "Yo Window" selected but don't know what happened to Yo Window, so guess I'm going to remove it and perhaps that will fix it. Darn, I hate that because on Christmas Eve night not only did the little house on the farm have the twinkling Christmas tree lights but that night it had the Bethlehem star in the sky and a beautiful night sky full of stars. Thanks Drac.

I don't know what Yo Window is, but the setting I'm talking about has nothing to do with your theme you have selected - if that's what Yo Window is. The setting is in the very bottom right and it says Screensaver.

I don't know what Yo Window is... According to Google, Yo Weather is a Free weather program for PC and Mac with living landscapes. Any landscape reflects real time and weather. So that's what Terri was talking about here ...because on Christmas Eve night not only did the little house on the farm have the twinkling Christmas tree lights but that night it had the Bethlehem star in the sky and a beautiful night sky full of stars.

I did look it up after I posted and saw it was some kind of weather program. So if this is a program that is running on her computer, then it should have nothing to do with Windows Themes which is what I was talking about and which drive me nuts with their "Blank" screensavers on some of them!

Drac, I should have mentioned that this is on my Vista OS, and doesn't show what you mentioned. I did click on personlize but it opened my control panel, that's why I said what I did about Yo Window. I do know what your talking about because my Win 8.1 has the screen saver/ None in the right hand bottom corner. I for some reason think Yo Window might have something to do with the problem but then again, maybe not.

Yes, I assumed you were talking about your Windows 8.1 computer - I should have asked! The issue is most likely this YoWindow thing... When I looked it up, it said it included a screensaver. Maybe it went to a blank one too.

I think what you are looking for is the power saver, not the screen saver, i.e. when your screen shuts down to save power. If it is set for a short time that’s when you get a blank screen when the power saver kicks in, mine is set for 15minutes.
To change the setting write power saver in the task manager ‘bottom right hand corner’ select edit power settings on the pop up window you can set the minutes when you want your screen saver to kick in up to never if you wish.
I have Win 7 but the power saver is what you are looking for I guess.
Yes, seeing your cursor is odd though still I would check your power setting to see if that helps.

Cari, when I pull up task manager I do not see what you have decribed, but I will continue to look for it. I uninstalled my YoWindow, that didn't fix it and I find it odd that I can't get rid of the icon on my desktop and I've tried! I will check the power saver, but yes I do see the cursor on the desktop when it goes black. Thanks.

Sometimes these programs do not WANT you to completely uninstall them! You might try running CCleaner on the registry or using Revo Uninstaller.

Odd, I can't find trace of the program but that icon does not want to leave. I put a MS screen save on the pc and I thought that might have done it but it didn't. The next thing I knew that screen went black but all I had to do was move the mouse a few times and it went to desktop, unlike before.

Yes Drac I tired both. This is absolutely crazy, now my Cyberpower is doing the same thing. (Win 8.1) Cari, I'll take a look but not sure this is going to help since both pc's are now doing the same thing.

Yes I do have it on the Cyberpower. Do you think I should remove it from Cyberpower too? However, that did not correct the problem on the other pc.

It definitely sounds like this YoWeather thingie is the source of your problem. I would uninstall it using the Revo Uninstaller because it sounds like it does not uninstall completely.

It's strange because I've had it since April with no problems but guess something went awry. Thanks.
