There are a lot of reasons why older games might not work in Windows 10 -- or might work at first, then suddenly stop working. Schizm 1 would be a no. Never worked fully for me on anything after Windows 98. Although it "played" in Windows 2000 and XP, there were severe audio problems. As for Schizm 2, even the current Gamersgate version doesn't list anything newer than XP. Syberia might or might not work. GOG lists it as compatible, but with their disclaimer that games may stop working suddenly in Windows 10 due to forced driver updates. Please be advised that Windows 10 operating system will receive frequent hardware driver and software updates following its release; this may affect game compatibility.

maggsie; you lead me to finally ask a question I have long wanted to ask. How do you "Invest in an old XP?" I've long thought that XP was the best game system for my old (Sometimes very old) games. Can I still buy an XP system? Is it possible to have Both XP and whatever is the next "Newest thing" on the same computer? I too wouldn't mind going back to a older system, but don't know how.

You might be able to find an old XP computer for sale on Ebay or maybe a used items shop. I just did a search for "XP computers for sale" and this is one of the results. The Dell Core 2 Duo looks like a good one. I would stay from the Optiplex models. I've worked on a couple of them and they are pretty awful for gaming. Some of these old computers are grossly under powered with miniscule amounts of RAM and awful integrated graphics. But they will work just find for old games... just don't expect them to play anything else. I even built a cheap desktop to house my old XP hard drive from my first HP XP computer in 2004 - wouldn't be without it! http://www.ebay.com/bhp/windows-xp-desktop

I was going to do some research on this. Great thinking ahead. I have had them all and just got rid. My friend has just acquired her husbands old XP as he is buying a new laptop and is playing all the old games having a great time. I have loads of them so I will try and find out what I can. I think I will have to find out who is getting rid of their old XP. I think I will try Face Book . Regards Maggsie

You can gloat you two with your XP and 98. LOL. My trouble is I am a chucker outer. When new stuff pops up I plunge straight in. I have just bought this new laptop Windows 10 and still have my old laptop windows 7 I am going to keep it even though it is very slow, Enjoy your old XP you two Draclvr and Winfrey. If you want any old old, old, old games they are here waiting. Just say the word. I have lots. Enjoy Happy gaming Maggsie

I'm pretty much of a chucker outer too unlike my husband who is quite a hoarder. But I did have to make an exception for my old XP!
