It may be timing out.

Maybe on the edge of timing out, but still managing to load.

You should only have one active connection -- to your own wireless router (or access point) and not to anyone else's.
Or are you saying you have several connections to your own wireless router?

You might try disconnecting from everything, then reconnect to only one.

I hope your router is password protected with WPA2 (or at least WPA). Otherwise your neighbors may be logging onto your router and using up all your bandwidth.

yes my router is password protected. even trying to go any where here on gb it tells me the site has timed out and can't find the dns. i am just at my wits end on whats going on. never had this kind of problem before . thought about removing my internet connection from my router starting it a new connection

If it can't find the DNS server, that's will make it time out.
You can set the DNS server in either your computer or your router.
It's probably more accessible to change it in your computer.

If your DNS server is sluggish, you can try a different one.
8.8.8.8 is Google's DNS server and is an easy number to remember.

Here are instructions in about.com's website
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows7/fl/change-dns-servers-windows-7.htm

Here are pictorial instructions
https://www.opennicproject.org/configure-your-dns/how-to-change-dns-servers-in-windows-7/

If you enter 8.8.8.8 as the DNS server and save changes, that should fix DNS problems.
There may be other issues, but see if fixing the DNS helps.

my10 - do you have cable for your internet? and have they made any changes ?

the reason i ask is because my cable company was sold to another company some months back ,and i experienced exactly what you describe -it was impossible to do anything.

turns out it was the entire town going through the same thing ,and then the company declined to provide service in our area altogether.
we never had problems until they took over. everyone had to find other ways to get internet. now everything works fine again.

just food for thought ,best luck sorting it out

If you are assuming that you are on line because your modem or gateway says it is online your PC might not be properly connected to the router. Hold the Windows key on your keyboard and press "r". In the box that appears type "cmd" enter. In the black box that appears type "ipconfig" and enter. This will tell you the IP address. If you are using a router or gateway you should get an IP starting with 192.168. If you get one that starts with 169 is a self assigned IP that means that it is not getting an IP address from your ISP. A 172 address is not likely unless you have just hooked up a modem that that has not been registered. An IP of all zeros means that it has not yet received an IP and will likely become a 169 if it does not get an IP assigned.

If it is a 169 try rebooting your PC. If it is a 172 all your ISP. Anything else try power cycling your modem and router by disconnecting the power to modem or gateway and your router. After a short wait reconnect power to the modem or gateway. Wait for it to show it is online. Then power on your router. Reopen your command prompt and check the IP address as above. If this doesn't work shut down your PC and do another power cycling.

There are other things that can be tried, but you should call your ISP for these things to have them guide you. They will also have tools that will allow them to see the status and history of your modem's connection.

Have you tried rebooting your router? I would definitely call your ISP.

You also mention WiFi and then you said you use a cable for your internet? So does that mean you have an ethernet cable going from your computer to the router or you are wireless?
