C:\WINDOWS\systerm32\config\systemfile\desktop is unavailable. If the locatioon is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted.
I just booted up my Cyberpower with OS 8.1 and this is the message I got. I clicked on ok and I have a black screen with the Recycle Bin icon only.
Any help available on this?
Thanks,
Terri

Shut down pc and rebooted. Desktop is now up. For further reference, why did this happen?

Did you by chance just get an windows update from Microsoft? That's when this sort of thing happens to me. I usually have to boot up twice then its ok.

I don't think so. I believe it's been a few days for the last update. I did notice when it finally booted up I had that nag to update to Win10, so I thought it might have something to do with the "neverten", that I have on my PC.
Thanks for you reply Geo.

Never10 won't get rid of the nag. It can prevent Windows 10 from installing, and remove any hidden Windows 10 installation files that Microsoft may have downloaded to your hard drive. But it won't block any "normal" Windows updates, and Microsoft considers the Windows 10 nagger to be a "Recommended" update.

To get rid of the nag, you need to uninstall the Windows Update that installs the nag, which is KB3035583. You uninstall it through Control Panel. Then you need to run Windows Update manually and tell it to "hide" KB3035583 (right-click and hide). If you hid KB3035583 in the past, you have to do it again because Microsoft made changes to it, which "unhid" it.

The power supply may be starting to fail -- not providing enough power to initialize the hard drive during a critical phase of booting. Sometimes letting the computer run awhile at the "unavailable" screen before rebooting will allow the power supply to charge up enough to succeed on reboot, but this doesn't fix the problem. If this problem booting happens again, and continues to happen, you may want to consider replacing the power supply with one of equal or better quality.

If you are interested in why power supplies fail, there is a discussion here
http://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/threads/what-causes-a-computer-power-supply-to-fail.13973/

Reasons for failure seem to be heat from dust accumulation, fan wearing out, bad capacitors, ... If you replace the power supply, be sure to get a good one.

Nothing wrong with that temperature.

Power supply is a good idea except it never happens to me other than after an update so that sort of eliminates the PS.

Terri said "I believe it's been a few days for the last update."
So her computer's issue seems to be different from yours.

Whether or not to worry about it depends on whether it continues to happen (especially if there is no Windows update associated with it).

The temp on that pc runs 90 degrees,so I thought that temp meant something was not running. Thanks for all the help. When I shut it down tonight I may clean it or wait until morning.

Is that 90C or 90F?
You said before it was 30/31, which would have to be C because if it were F you'd have a refrigerator.
90F would be fine, but 90C would be too hot.
30/31C is a good temperature.

Be careful if you clean it. Use either a can of compressed air or a DataVac (not a regular vacuum cleaner) so you don't get ESD damage.

Jenny, that's a good question, can't find the little temp icon it appears to be "gone". I think it has always been in degrees.
