I want to purchase a new laptop for casual and adventure gaming. I have a desktop but I want the laptop for the portability. I'm looking at the Alienware 17 but I'm afraid there may be a problem loading games. I like games such as the Dreamfall series, Syberia, Darkfall etc.. I just purchased Jack Keane for the second time. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks all, Louis.

Why do you think there would be a problem loading games? The Alienware 17 is a pretty high end gaming laptop good enough for most FPS and RPG games.

I'm 63 so please bear with me. As computers progressed I found that The newer computers were too powerful to load older games so I'm concerned that the Alienware 17 may have that same issue. If I'm wrong then thank you for educating me on that and do you think the Alienware 17 is fine or can you suggest another laptop that you like. Thanks.

Louis, I will be 69 in just a couple of weeks, so you are just a whippersnapper to me!! grin

Your concerns are legitimate if you don't plan on playing any of the newer adventure games. I have to leave right now to help serve dinner at our American Legion and will be back later tonight. Maybe Jenny100 will drop in and give you some advice...

If you mean the ones here
http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-17-r3/pd

They shouldn't have any trouble with Dreamfall Chapters.

The 2006 version of Dreamfall may or may not work depending on which version you have. Download versions should work, but some of the disc versions had DRM that Windows 10 will block (so the game won't start).

If you have the disc versions of Syberia, they have SafeDisc DRM and won't work on Windows 10. You'll have to get download versions.

Dark Fall 1 and 2 have more than one disc version. GOG lists the first Dark Fall as compatible with Windows 10 but not the second. I don't know if that's an omission or not.

GOG's version of Jack Keane is listed as compatible with Windows 10. If you had a disc version, it may be blocked by the DRM.
