Went to play and the game won't launch. I get a black screen and then back to desktop. Went to their tech forum and saw others with this problem but didn't see any solution. Also see that there is a game ending glitch somewhere near the end of the game. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that just wasted an hour of my time. Wrote to support.

Anybody have any suggestions while I wait?

I assume you bought the game from Big Fish? what operating system are you using?

I see that there are folks who were getting an "out of range" message when trying to start the game. You are just getting a black screen and no message, correct?

I'm not much help with these matters. Maybe try changing your screen resolution. Someone else may have some better/other ideas.

I thought those "out of range" messages were people who play on their TV's.

And from what I've been hearing, Big Fish is taking weeks to respond to problems.

I wrote to Big Fish recently and it took four days for them to respond - which wasn't bad, considering it was over the Labor Day holiday. Never had to wait weeks, so I am sorry to hear this is happening to some people. When you send them a request for help now, you need to respond to their initial "form letter" reply or they will assume that you have resolved your issue - that's *possibly* what is happening to some people who wait weeks - they don't send a response email when they get the "form letter."

I could be wrong, but I thought you could get the out of range message with a computer monitor as well. Drac and Jenny would know more about that than I do.

I don't know what the problem was but I restarted my computer and for now at least, the game is working. Hopefully it will keep working AND I won't hit that glitch.

My reply from BF doesn't indicate that I have to respond to it Marian, unless I want to add information.

Sometimes those emails from Big Fish ask for a response and some of them don't. I'm not sure why.

I hope the game keeps working for you. And I hope you don't hit that glitch - sometimes a workaround is posted for such things, but I don't know if there was anything mentioned for this one.

It is something about a disappearing glass cutter and somebody did post that you should find the crystal as soon as you get the glass cutter (although I saw something about 2 of them so I don't know which one) before playing some mini game or puzzle. I should have noted it better but I will probably forget anyway by the time I get to that point and realize I am at that point. We will see.

It is funny and also frustrating that games will work for some computers or laptops and not others in which Jenny100, Draclvr, Marian and others have mentioned many times can happen, I have had issues with some games while others have had zero problems, anyway, I was able to play this game on my almost 4 year old laptop with Windows 8.1 with NO problems at all. And just to add, I found this game to be the best of the series, I truly enjoyed this one.
I hope you have solved your problem so you can enjoy playing this great game.

I've been playing all day since I got it to work. Closed out of it now but I don't anticipate any further problems. Hopefully not jinxing myself by saying that.

I did get the BF form letter now with some standard info that says to reply or they will assume my problem has been fixed. I'll wait to see. They give you a few days.

I tried to be positive thinking all would be well now.

Game won't open today.

If I look in task manager it says the game is running. If I right click on it in there, there is a option to "bring to front". What does that mean?

Oh wait. I think that was because I had the file open so I could right click to run as administrator since I cannot do that form the desktop icon.

If it was behind another window, "bring to front" would put it on top. It's worth trying, though it doesn't sound exactly like what you want.

So, I restarted my computer again and voila! The game works. I have half a mind to leave the game paused and my computer on but I really hate to do that while I am at work all day tomorrow.

It sounds like quite a persnickety game. For now, rebooting seems to be the cure.

Sorry I've been absent for a few days! Oldbroad, you might try doing a CTRL/ALT/DEL to bring up your task manager and see if you can find what is running in the background and then stopping the process.

Today I just went straight for the game when I brought my computer up before doing anything else and it is fine.

This might be wrong but it seems like when I click on the icon to start the game, it is having a conflict with Hidden Expeditions Titanic which is also installed on my computer. I say this because that first day I did notice an error message saying some other game was open or something like that but there wasn't any other game open. However, this Hidden Expedition game was in my queu (don't know how to spell) waiting for activation, BUT as stated above the game is already installed (activated and played) on my computer, so I don't know why that is popping in there when I try to play this game.

It's a good game so hopefully I can get it finished and not have to worry about it anymore.

ARGHHHH.

Almost 10 hours of playing and some items appeared to go missing from my inventory but I continued on in case this was just part of the game, then the game closed down to the BF client and I clicked to play again and was notified that my player was corrupt and I should create a new one. I tried using the same player and the game restarted.

It is a very good game but I don't think I want to try replaying 10 hours and then run into the same problem.

Decided to go for it but starting with Chapter 4 I used the guide to play the rest of the game in the order required, so as not to crash out again (not for solutions to mini games). Not as enjoyable that way but at least I got to play it to the end.

I'm sorry you ran into those difficulties, but hopefully you got some enjoyment out of the game regardless. I wish we could have fixed the problems.

I guess that's why we're called "Glitches" down here! Sometimes the glitches are not easily solved!
