Zoe made it into Waticorp and found Damien. Zoe and Damien had an extremely long, boring conversation and then he took her to the stairway where she is supposed to go down 58 flights or something in 30 minutes. Zoe get stuck in the doorway. I "quit to main menu" which gives you the option to either quit and lose your progress or to go back. I go back, resume game, and Zoe makes it through the doorway but then Damien is stuck there. I can't get him through by the same method so I quit out of the game.

Before I go back in and try again, is there anything anybody can tell me that will help make this work?

What is VSync and where do I turn it on? Also, when you say "go to the menu and lower the resolution to 800X600" do you just mean my desktop screen resolution? I don't recall seeing anyplace in the game menu to change the resolution.

Oh, and while I'm here, do you know anything about the sound? In some areas, the talk sounds like the tape recording is wearing out. In some areas all the conversations are fine.

At the main menu, choose options and then choose "video." This is where you will find the VSync (Vertical Sync) option as well as the screen resolution option.

If I can find anything about the sound problem, I'll let you know.

So, get this. From the time I left the forum here and went back into the game, I lost my memory. I clicked load game and was into the conversation before I remembered that I was supposed to go into the options and turn on VSync. I went and washed dishes while they had their 15 minute conversation and came back in time to see them outside the stairwell. Zoe got stuck so I turned on VSync then and it worked like a charm. Didn't have to change the screen resolution.

Bless you! I would hate to have a glitch stop me from playing when I'm already half way through the game.

The quickest way to get by it if nothing else works is Ctrl Alt Del. When the task manager screen shows just click cancel and that puts you back in problem fixed. You have to do it for both Zoe and Damien.
