Hello everyone, I have not played adventure games in years and have decided that I should replay my games (I have close to 200, some DOS games that I will not play). Anyway I happened to be at Game Stop today and found Syberia 3 so I bought it. I think I wish I hadn't. It won't install. When I installed it all I got were files. I am not very computer literate so I am stumped. I am playing with Windows 10. Can someone tell me how to install so I can play and if there is going to be a walkthru for this game (counting my chickens....LOL)

Thank you, Eileen smile

Where did you buy it from?
If you got it from Steam, then Steam should take care of installing it for you. But it may take a long time to download its parts before it can actually install. It will need 45 GB of hard drive space. The download itself won't be quite that large.

Big Fish has a walkthrough here

Actually, Big Fish broke up the original Syberia game into three parts, and that is the link for part 3.

No one here plans on doing a written walkthrough, but you can find lots of help online elsewhere.

When I look in the drive the cd is in there is an autorun, click on it and it brings up the notepad but then doesn't do anything.

What I am wondering is if the boxed version of Syberia 3 requires downloading a Steam account and installing it through that. That would explain why you aren't able to install it as a stand-alone game. If that is the case, somewhere in the boxed version should be a key code for you to download it from Steam.

Someone familiar with this procedure, if indeed this is the case, will have to walk you through this.

Unfortunately, more and more boxed versions of new games are just selling you a key code so that you can download the game from Steam.

Ok that does make sense the CD sent me to sign up for Steam but I didn't know what it was. I will go ahead and do that since it did come with a key code. Will see what happens. Thank you for your help. Are all games downloads now? That is how long I have been away from gaming. LOL

Yes, you need to sign up for a Steam account and download the Steam client. After that, there is some more help for you here, if needed:

Activating a Product on Steam

Steam and Retail CD Keys

Not all games are downloads now but some retail games require you to use Steam; it is becoming more and more common.

You're right. I linked the wrong thing.
There was a "real" Syberia 3 walkthrough mentioned at Gameboomers some time ago, but I didn't check that the link was correct.

This walkthrough at gamefaqs seems to be for the correct game
https://www.gamefaqs.com/pc/959599-syberia-3/faqs/74745

There was another walkthrough at Steam. Maybe this

Pretty much all adventure games are -- with the exception of some Kickstarter releases.

Barrow Hill: The Dark Path had a real disc version with actual game files on it though (not just a disc with a miserable Steam installer on it).

Hi Eileen,

The best walkthrough so far is at:

Gamer Walkthroughs

The Problem with this walkthrough is the dark screenshots. I have about one third of my walkthrough done with emphasis on good screenshots. I will try to get this first third up in the next few days. If you need help don't be afraid to ask. Actually it would be nice to have someone check it out.

Take care.

Mr. Bill

I hope so Draclvr.

I had forgotten how to place a walkthrough up on the website. :-( It is strange having to learn this all over again. smile

Finally got it: Please remember This is the first third and it will take me quite some time to finish the whole walkthrough. I'm still adding pictures to this first third. Just ask for help when you catch up to me and want to go on ahead.

Syberia 3 Walkthrough by Mr. Bill

Cheers,

Mr. Bill

Thank you very much everyone for your input and help. I FINALLY got Steam installed on my laptop and the Steam Client which I needed to put the key in and play the game. Ugh, what a pain.

Mr Bill I will definitely try your walkthrough and test it for you. I will let you know how it is going. Which forum should I talk to you on? I am also going to print an other walkthrough just in case...LOL.

Once again thank you everyone!

Eileen smile

Hi Eileen.

The GameBoomers Adventure Games Help Forum, Email, Whatever. I'm adding in the last of the screenshots for the first third now. I've decided to write the rest and then do screenshots to go with it. Description can be enough for some folks.

I gave you the walkthrough I used. Learn to back up your saves. That is very important!

Take care.

Bill

Hi sorry to but in!! I have been wanting this game but fear my graphics are not good enough, Steam says I need Nvidia GTX960, I have at present Nvidia 650ti, as this is a lesser number would it work or do I have to wait until I upgrade my graphics? duh

Thanks - Monica

Your GTX 650Ti is actually rated higher than the older GTX 960.

Steam says the minimum requirement is Nvidia GTX 550 Ti 2GB
so your 650 TI should work as long as it has 2GB of video memory.

The GTX 960 is the "Recommended" card, not the minimum.
