Just now, I went looking to replay a game I bought from BF a few years ago, Called Twilight Phenomenon: City of Cyan. I have played only three games in that series, and only this one is good enough that I thought I'd replay it while waiting for a better game to hit. This game is no longer listed in my Purchase History. The other two Twilight games that I bought still are there.

I decided to send a note to BF Support asking about this, just in case there was a glitch, but they apparently are disabling that kind of interaction, according to them. When I clicked on the Customer Support button as usual, it sent me off to a statement page that said the following:

"Starting April 30, 2018, creating new posts and private messaging
will be disabled on our forums. All existing content will remain viewable.
For more information please read our Forums article
."

eek

I did not see the "Forums article" they referred to nor a clear path to finding it. I noodled around the old familiar way, and didn't encounter any way to contact Customer Support directly.

Please tell me I am missing something?

The game is listed under "P" for "Phenomenon: City of Cyan" on my alphabetical list.

Are you looking for the listing in your Big Fish Game Client or are you looking at the Big Fish site?
It's listed under "P" in both places for me.
No "Twilight" in the title.

As for the customer support and not offering forum posts or PM's any more, I'm as much in the dark as you are. They seem to be offering customer support through zendesk.
https://bigfishgames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

The "forums article" they're referring to seems to be this
https://bigfishgames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360002320933

I can't help but remember what happened to Dreamcatcher after they closed down their adventure game forums.

For the last several days a moderator has been posting an announcement that the forums will be closing; these announcements have been stickied and posted to the top of the game forum of the new games that have been released since, I believe, the Modern Tales: Age of Invention CE.

Here is some of what they have said:

Quote:
Hi everyone,

Over the years, our forums have played a huge role in how we communicate with and receive feedback from you, our players. They have also been an important source for game-play help.

You may be aware that our forums have been fragile for quite some time, and it has been determined that we are unable to sustain them while also maintaining the first-rate customer experience via this and other channels that our players have come to expect.

Beginning April 30, 2018, creating new posts and private messaging will be disabled on the Big Fish Games forums. All existing content will remain and be viewable, ensuring that there is continued access to the wealth of knowledge created and shared by you and our moderation team.

There’s no change in our commitment to bringing the best content to our customers. You’ll continue to receive notification of update to games in the Big Fish Games App (Game Manager) as they’re made available.

The link Jenny provided to contact Customer Support is the one that I use when I have a problem or a question.

This was an extremely difficult decision to make, and on behalf of the moderation team, we thank you all for your dedication to our community.

There has been a major kerfuffle going on about this decision, and the moderators have allowed folks to discuss it and have replied to concerns and questions. Many people are figuring out where to go so that they can continue to discuss new games that are released, and I am aware of at least a couple of other websites not GameBoomers where folks are registering.

Most if not all people are very unhappy with this decision. Player reviews will still be posted on the download page, but there will be no new posts and no private messaging.

Does this mean if you have a problem with a game playing or loading you are not going to be able to contact customer support?

Not at all. Everyone will still be able to write to Customer Support. What you won't be able to do is to discuss it in the game forum.

Considering I've made 32 posts in all these years and I'm pretty sure they were all to a question regarding a walkthrough i wrote, I won't miss them. lol

I won't miss the forum, but wonder about technical issues. The technical issues thread was a good way for BFG to know about common glitches all in one place.

Thanks, Marian. But about the comment that "Everyone still will be able to write to Customer Support," it is when I tried to do just that today (clicking on the Customer Support button on their web site) that I got bounced away to the Statement about the Forums being locked down at the end of the month. So, if we can't get to CS that way, how can we contact them? Are they going to introduce some other process?

I won't miss the game forums, either. I can't think of the last time I ever wrote in asking a fellow gamer about a casual. The games don't last long enough for that. ha ha

I did figure out the problem for me: There are two series called Phenomenon and Twilight Phenonmena. I bought games in both series. Easy to mix them up in my mind.

I will miss the forum. If I was having a problem with a game, whether a technical problem or a gameplay problem, the forums were a quick way to see if anyone else had the same problem and if they were able to solve it. Closing the forums means this information will only be available for older games. And of course the only reviews will now be those on the game pages, where you have to expand each and every one of the reviews to search for keywords.

And yes their contact form is bugged. Sometimes it works but other times it just bounces you around to some other Big Fish webpage. And it can take quite a long time to get an answer now even if a support request does get through. I suspect they've cut back on their support staff to "save money."

Big Fish got in trouble with their "Big Fish Casino" and their revenue probably went down as a result.

Well I rarely have problems with Big Fish games but I'm certainly hoping that their Customer Service does remain practical and available.
I very much dislike sites that don't offer decent after sales service thumbsdown

That is just so ridiculous. Whatever happened to taking responsibility for your own actions. If I choose to give them money to play the game, then that is the choice I made. Period. Because I "lost" that money playing slots, I should not be able to sue. That is like sueing a real casino because you lost all you money.

I agree, Ana. As far as I can tell, the only reason to target the slots game is because of the gameplay. Other "free to play" games are no different in that one can choose to buy extras. They just don't resemble actual gambling machines.

I hadn't heard that about the Casino game, Jenny, so thanks for that background. Those gambling games are real money-makers, and if BF derived a significant income stream from it, losing it would hurt. We've never been into gambling and never played on-line gambling games (that IS what they are, I agree). Clearly, the whole premise is that gamers will get sucked in and will spend real money to keep playing, hence fill the game developer's pockets. I feel sorry for people who get sucked into them.

However, I agree with whoever said a "victim" of this on-line gaming has some nerve to sue someone else for their own failure to curb their appetites. Where is individual responsibility? When you consider games of the "Farmville" type, or most of the puzzle sites, there is the same lure of advancing faster if you spend a little of your real money for things, instead of waiting to earn them. Clearly, the whole premise is that you will get so addicted that you will spend real money to keep playing, hence fill their pockets. People have spent unbelievable sums of real money to play some of those sims on line. It isn't outright gambling, but relies on the same inability to withhold gratification. Credit Cards and "Installment Plans" have been playing with the same tool box, and snaring people into crippling debt, for 50 years.

I hadn't heard about any of this but I totally agree with what BrownEyedTigre says yes

And closing down one gambling facility won't solve the problem, anyway. Die hard gamblers will just move on to another site duh

Sparkle, I felt the same way about not missing the Games Forum if maintaining it is discontinued and only old threads will remain. Oddly enough, today, I encountered a game with what appeared to be a glitch (replaying an old favorite). I found a map through a forest, but it didn't work as it was supposed to do, to show me the way. I was able to look at the archives for that game, and saw a long thread of people asking about the same problem and I learned that the glitch was never fixed by the game developers ~ you simply had to skip that puzzle. I suppose I would have done that eventually, but wondered if it was something I had missed. Anyway, I did skip it, and went on.

So, BF is going to leave all those archived posts, and for people who go back and play an older game, the resource still will be there. I guess that's a good thing.

family, I googled this and found this response... have you tried turning off your Anti-virus??

"On my research I find that this is a known issue with Big fish games. I also see that some of the users were able to fix this issue and play the games by turning off the Anti-virus program on their computer.

I suggest that you turn off the Anti Virus program and check if you are able to play the game.

Note: Please make sure that you enable the antivirus software after performing the test to keep your computer protected."

family, we have had this conversation before. Asking for a coupon code looks like you are just trying to hustle a free game. They DO NOT owe you a code. First off, you really need to do the trial first. This would eliminate all your problems. Secondly, an access violation is a fixable issue. Third, you need to familiarize yourself with their help pages and follow their advice before contacting them. The only reason to contact them is if you do not find your issue listed or if you tried ALL their suggestions and it didn't work.

Good advice from Ana, as always. I will say, though, that in the past I have had, on rare occasions, the dreaded access violation message and nothing I tried from the help pages and advice given ever made the slightest difference. Very frustrating, but happily those occasions have been very few and far between.

Why did you have to yank the power cord?

Yanking on a power cord is never a good idea! Making sure it is attached correctly to the computer and the wall socket is a better idea.
