I was initially hesitant to play any of the new style telltale games because I just wasnt sure they were adventure games and they had those quick time events. There was a big sale on all telltale games at steam and decided to purchase the one that looked the most intriguing to me which was Tales From the Borderlands. I started to play it but only lasted about 15 minutes. I kind of lost interest in it. A few months later I decided to give it another try and Im sure glad I did. The quick time events were not as hard as I thought they would be and the story was just fantastic. I have to say, Tales From the Borderlands is the best game I have played in years and one of the best I have ever played. To me, the story, should I say a masterpiece? Maybe.....

I was that way with Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Started it and didn't like it. Put it aside for several months... was needing a game one night and tried it again. This time I loved it so much, I played it twice! Glad you gave Borderlands a second chance!

Gardens put to bed for the winter. Time for some gaming!

I've owned Borderlands for ages but haven't tackled it yet. Count Zero I'm going to try it as you've convinced me I might manage it. Thanks.

Glad you enjoyed it, CountZero. thumbsup It was a great game, and I agree, Telltale's quick time events are not that hard at all. I'm generally not good at/don't enjoy action sequences, but I have no trouble whatsoever with Telltale games.

Have you played any others since? The Walking Dead 1 is still my favorite, as I love the relationship between Lee and Clementine. I'm not a zombie fan in general, but the story in that game blew me away. I enjoyed the sequels as well, though the third is not as good as the others. The Wolf Among Us is one of their more popular games, and it's also great. The Batman games are also worth checking out, particularly The Enemy Within. I definitely recommend these games, if you decide you like Telltale's style. smile

In either case, I'm glad you enjoyed Tales From the Borderlands so much. The characters in that game were a lot of fun. thumbsup

I have yet to try any of the other Telltale games. The world in Tales was what brought me to the game and I loved it so much. I never really got into the walking dead series on tv, but I think that would be the one that I will try next or the Wolf Among Us. GOG has that big sale going on now I am backed up with games I have not played in ages like the Monkey Island series, Day of the Tentacle and Toonstruck.

Sounds great, CountZero. thumbsup I think The Walking Dead game is quite a bit better than the show, even though the game did get me to watch the show, which I enjoy to a degree. Hope you enjoy The Walking Dead and/or The Wolf Among Us if you decide to give one or both a try. smile

I definitely understand the desire to replay some games first. I do this all the time with games I already own. grin Enjoy the Monkey Island series, Day of the Tentacle and Toonstruck! woot (By the way, have you played the Telltale Monkey Island game? It's one of their more "traditional" adventure games, and I think they did a fantastic job with it.)

I loved the game and TV show. I also enjoyed Borderlands even though I thought I wouldn't when I first read about it.

They aren't games you'd buy for puzzles - just ones that you can change the direction of through dialogue and some simple Quicktime sequences.

Not sure that I enjoyed The Wolf Amongst us though.

I have it on my desktop but havent played it yet. Is it first person instead of third person like the older games?

Teassoc, that's great that you enjoy both. I wouldn't have watched the show if it hadn't been for the game, but I gave it a try and enjoyed it. thumbsup Tales From the Borderlands took me by surprise as well, as I expected I would enjoy Game of Thrones more, but Borderlands turned out to be the better of the two. I enjoyed Game of Thrones also, though. Why didn't you like The Wolf Among Us? Was it just not your type of story?

CountZero, as Marian said, Tales of Monkey Island is in 3rd person. thumbsup You should give it a try some time, maybe after replaying the originals. smile
