that is what i too originally thought about DD but so many boomers here have played DD as their first rpg and have loved it. i don't think the combat is anywhere close to being as hectic as diablo and i never agreed with the diablo comparisons it frequently gets.

i also thought fallout would have made a much better choice as a first time rpg.

If you can handle controls that take some getting used to and action-based fights, play the two Gothic games. They are the best RPGs of recent years - the sheer level of detail and the amount of options is just staggering.

Becky, you won't have any problem with it, honestly, as long as you have a computer that will play it. You're going to love it! Once you have that under your belt, you may just want to take a peek at DD, and join the party!

I think Tlon is another good example of a true RPG/Adventure hybrid. Not that it's a great game or anything though.

nickie -- I have two older computers, so I'm hoping it'll run on one of them! I'll report back on my experiences with it.
