It was from Big Fish and I played it some years ago, probably from before 2015.
I don't think it was from before 2010 but I can't be 100% sure.
So probably from between 2010 and 2014.

It was mostly a HOPA (Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure), but for part of the game you had to grow flowers in your greenhouse and sell them to make money. You would plant the seeds in the pots and wait until they grew, then collect them to sell them.

I think the main story had to do with saving your house. Making money by selling flowers was sort of a side game, but you had to do some of it if you wanted to finish the game.

The game had bright cheerful colors as far as I can remember.

As you progressed through the game doing the HOPA part, you'd find things that would help you grow different varieties of flowers that got you more money when you sold them.

I don't remember any "paranormal" stuff or ghosts or spooky stuff.

I think the game took place in present day (or close to it).

I can think of a few games that remind me a little of your description, but they are not HOPAs. I am thinking specifically of the Gardenscapes series. There were three of them, and I notice that the third one (Mansion Makeover) has been removed from the Big Fish website.

I'll keep thinking about it and maybe I can come up with some better ideas. I want to know what this game is, too. I am very curious now, as I don't remember any HOPA like the one that you are describing.

It's definitely not Gardenscapes.
I don't own any Gardenscapes games.

Making money through selling greenhouse plants was only one small part of the game.
You also had to investigate who was conspiring to take over your property and why, and that part was definitely HOPA.

I think the developer was trying to get people who played HOPA's interested in Management games, though that didn't work in my case.

It might have been a CE (Collector's Edition).

Jenny has stated that the game is mostly a HOPA. I am still trying to figure out what it could be. I am familiar with a whole lot of them but don't remember anything like what she is describing, so I am really intrigued. smile

Though I think there was some sort of garden, or at least a plant that was blooming by a gate or fence, you grew your flowers in a greenhouse, in pots, not in a garden.

As you know, Big Fish has removed some games from their lists, due to problems with current versions of Windows or some other reason. So the game may not be listed at
https://www.bigfishgames.com/download-games/genres/15/hidden-object.html
either, not that I'd recognize the name after all this time.

I've gone through the list of purchased games on my Big Fish account, from 2008 through 2015, and nothing stands out.
I checked YouTube videos of some of the game names that sounded promising but haven't seen anything with the greenhouse.

That kind of leaves 3 possibilities:
  • It was one of those I checked on YouTube, but the parts of the videos I skipped through weren't anything I recognized from the game
  • The game had a name that either sounded a whole lot more grim and diabolical than the game actually was -- or a whole lot more fairytale than the game actually was -- and I didn't check further.
  • Big Fish no longer offers the game and it's missing from my account list. :-(

On the positive side I did find a few games that looked like they'd be interesting to replay.
For example this one, which has bright, colorful graphics similar to but not quite like the game I was remembering
https://www.bigfishgames.com/blog/walkthrough/off-the-record-linden-shades-walkthrough/

Hopefully I'll find this mysterious game eventually.

Jenny, if Big Fish removes a game from their website that you have previously purchased, it remains in your Purchase History for you to download and play. I have quite a few games in my Purchase History that have been removed from the website, and I still have access to all of them.

I'll keep thinking about this too.

I am aware that that's how it's "supposed" to work.
I am also aware that software doesn't always work as intended and errors and omissions can happen when software is "updated" for newer systems, for security, or just "because it's the latest version."

I have just finished entering all my purchased games from Big Fish into an Excel spreadsheet and there are over 900 of them.

What is especially annoying is having uninstalled it because of hard drive space when I hadn't uninstalled less interesting games.

I haven't counted my games, Jenny, but I am almost positive that I have at least 900 in my Purchase History. Comrade! wink

I have been trying to think of HOPAs where flowers figured into the story line, and I thought of European Mystery: Flowers of Death. I will let you know if I think of any other possibilities.

We be suckers for games.
I was shocked to see I'd bought so many.

You can see where going through them one at a time to see which one had a greenhouse/flower growing mechanic would be a problem.

Well my Big Fish collection is definitely "puny" compared to what you two have !! lol

I just did a little math. I have been buying games on Big Fish for 13 years, or 156 months. If I have approximately 900 games in my Purchase History this would mean that I bought an average of 6 games a month - but then you also have to consider free game codes and sale prices for some of these purchases. Considering all of this, it is quite easy to see how this came about.

This does, however, beg the question of why on earth I would ever need another game in my entire life. grin

Well Marian, I'm up there in the 10 or so games a month according to my count. I've only been buying Big Fish downloads for 6 years and have somewhere between 775 and 800. I have 3 different counts. Why doesn't Big Fish tell you somewhere how many games you have? Or am I just not seeing it? And, I have never been a member except for a 30 day trial.

I have never seen anywhere where Big Fish tells you how many games you have. It would be a useful feature to have. Maybe they don't think it's a smart move to remind their customers how many games they have purchased. grin

This sounds like Plants vs. Zombies, except the HOPA part, and, well, the zombies. lol

Definitely not that one.

It's possible that it's a game where only the Collector's Edition required the mini-game with growing plants in the greenhouse, and the Standard Edition either didn't require you to make money or there was some other way of making money. Most of Big Fish's walkthroughs don't include instructions that are specific to Collector's Editions.

Remember that when Collector's Editions first started being a thing at Big Fish, the "Bonus Gameplay" wasn't always a separate game chapter that had to be accessed through "Extras" in the Main Menu. Some early Collector's Editions integrated the "bonus" part with the Main game. For example, in Curse at Twilight: Thief of Souls Collector's Edition the Bonus gameplay was integrated with the Main Game -- taking place in areas that were inaccessible in the Standard Edition. Escape from Ravenhearst CE also had the Bonus Gameplay interspersed with the Main Game and not a separate chapter.

So it may be that the game I'm thinking of has the Greenhouse plant growing mini-game as Bonus material in the CE version, and it's not part of the Standard Edition.

I do remember there being a few CEs, Jenny, where the bonus gameplay was integrated into the main game. Another one that did that, I believe, was Voodoo Whisperer: Curse of a Legend CE.

I am still trying to figure out the game that you are thinking of.
