I haven't been on boomers for a while so if I am in the wrong place I apologize. the problem I have is, to say the least, annoying. I have over 50 of big fish games from past years on disc, I bought them, now, if I want to play any one of them. I load from disc, at least I try to load from disc. and then I am taken to the web site and told to download from there. WHY ?these are my bought and paid for discs, I own them, at least I thought I did. when I try to download as per instructions it is a mess. again, WHY? I BOUGHT THESE DISCS SO I WOULDNT HAVE TO GO ON THE NET ALL THE TIME. I am peed off. info would be appreciated. if this is the case each time I have to on the net again WHY/ A VERY ANNOYED ex BIG FISH CUSTOMER

Hi cybermom wave2

I too have some Big Fish Games on disc. From what I've experienced, you still need to install the game manager to install the games on your computer. The game manager is what you have to install over the net, not the games. Then you can install the games from the disc. Not sure if anyone else has a way to install them from the disc without the game manager, but this is what I've had to do.

I assume these are Big Fish games you've purchased at a retail store? Have you even installed them from these disks on this computer? Are the games activated? I don't know if this will help, but maybe there is something in here...

So far I haven't had any problems with my casual discs but they do usually automatically install the game manager if it is not already installed on your computer (even if it's not connected to the internet). Also, the game manager will open when you play the game but the game is installed from the disc. It is not saved in your manager (or purchase history) if you uninstall the game.

Where did you get the game discs?
Did you get the discs directly from Big Fish back when they had the option to add $6.99 (or $7.99) to the price of the game if you wanted to be sent a disc?

Or are these games you bought from a shop like Target, Best Buy, or Amazon?

The discs that came directly from Big Fish may have a different installer setup from the ones bought from a retail shop.

The few games with Big Fish on the label that I got from Amazon may want to install the Game Manager, but so far haven't insisted that I go online during the installation.

And when you say "I load from disc, at least I try to load from disc." do you mean you try to start playing the games off the disc or that you're trying to install the games from the disc? You shouldn't need the disc in the drive to start the game after the game has been installed.

Good catch, Jenny. I assumed cybermom was trying to install the game from the disk, but maybe I was wrong.

Ah, never thought of this as I never did this.

I have several older Big Fish games on CD (Return to Ravenhearst being one example) and they were completely independent from the internet/Game Manager and required nothing more than to simply install them and play. These were games that I purchased from eBay and Amazon; they were not back-up CDs from Big Fish.

I don't have very many retail Big Fish games on CD, but there was one that insisted on re-installing the Game Manager before installing the game, and the game appeared in the Game Manager's installed list. The computer was offline and did not have to be put online to activate the game. I don't remember if this particular game came from eBay or if it came from Amazon or an Amazon seller, but it was one of those.

Apparently some Big Fish game CD's use the Game Manager to install the games and some don't.

It sounds like you are online when you're trying to install the games.
Disconnect from your Internet and see if the game installs without trying to go online.

I never thought of that either. I bought mine from a store, not through BFG. Did try this morning, uninstalled the game manager, took one of my discs and clicked install. It immediately installed the old game manager and then the game. Didn't take me online. I always have the game manager set to not open up when done with a game and I start the games through the game file on my computer. The game manager can be annoying.

Family, I know you're trying to help, but cybermom22's problem is not that the games don't work.

The problem is that her CD versions are going online to the Big Fish website, and she bought disc versions because she doesn't want to have to go online for the games. This seems to be happening during the installation, where the installer on the game disc wants to get the "latest" version of the Big Fish Game Manager. At least it does that if the computer is connected to the Internet. If the computer is not connected to the Internet, the game will use an old version of the Game Manager that's on the game disc.

a big thankyou, once u pointed out things it was easy. I had a game manager already installed from a while ago, so I uninstalled it and redid the disc. I am now able to play without going on the net. I am a senior so the net for me is a big adventure. thanks again for all your help. appreciated..
