We saw them in Branson Sunday night. Johnny Lee (73) opened. He has Parkinsons and can barely walk but sings as well as ever, which is not as good as Mickey Gilley. Mickey Gilley (83) suffered a spinal cord injjury over 10 years ago and can no longer play piano (that loss and being unable to play golf have heart him tremendously) but can still sing. Doctors told him at the time of the accident that he may never walk again but he walks better than Johnny Lee. My sister says she is a little bit in love wih him, he's so charming. If you like country music and get a chance to see them, go. After Gilley's set Gilley and Lee closed the show together.
Mickey needed to take a couple of short breaks so he had a Conway Twitty impersonator sing a couple of Conway's songs and his keyboardist do a Charlie Rich song. The Conway Twitty impersonator is I think spot on, he does' a tribute show in another theater.
The Mickey Gilley and Johnny Lee show is limited, as you may expect 3 this week. Two next couple weeks and 1 in December. Mikey Gilley is probably only star in Bronson actually appearing in a theater with his name on it. Andy Williams theater is now run by Jimmy Osmond's (William's wish) and Daniel O'Donnell appears at the (Lawrence) Welk Theater.
While most of the other shows include Christmas music at this time of year, they didn't. Like all Branson shows they honor veterans. Their MC and guitar player asked veterans to stand so audience could clap for them. Which is what most of the shows do. Though some add a song.
I still need to see Charlie Pride he's in his 80s too, and I want to seem him before he's gone.

I did not know about the injury either until he explained why he wasn't at the keyboard. He said one hand is totally paralyzed.
He credited his cousin Jerry Lee Lewis with his getting into the music business. But said actually the other cousin Jimmy Swaggart made more money than the two of them combined. But let's no go there,
