I may have done this eons ago but searching didn't find anything so perhaps I imagined it
Lyrics are just one aspect of a song but some truly are spectacular.
What are your most evocative lyrics in a song? It only has to be a small part, or could be the whole thing.
Diamonds and Rust is a whole song that does it for me - if there is a better story told more poetically it might only be Famous Blue Raincoat. I haven't repeated the lyrics but just look them up.
A portion of a song that does it for me is Wond'ring Aloud by Jethro Tull:

Wond'ring aloud, will the years treat us well
As she floats in the kitchen, I'm tasting the smell
Of toast as the butter runs
Then she comes, spilling crumbs, on the bed
And I shake my head ..

The quintessential heady breakfast in bed scenario - and who hasn't tasted that smell?

A single line that resonates is in a Pete Townsend song called And I Moved:

And he laid me back just like an empty dress

I can so visualise exactly what that would be like

Flotsom...some lyrics are incredibly powerful with the accompanying music

I think I enjoy music more than lyrics

I do like the lyrics to many songs but I also feel the music can enhance them SO much
