What do I have to do in order to download this game? I have been trying for 2 days to get it to run. Please tell me in baby speak, as I am hopeless at this type of thing.

The folks here in Glitches can help you get the game running. Which part of the download are you specifically having trouble with? Is it figuring out what to do with the downloaded files?

In any event, Draclvr should be able to help you with this. She is playing the game right now.

You mention two different things, dorish… downloading and running. I might be able to help quickly here, but I need to know exactly what you have done so far. Otherwise, the Glitches forum might be your best bet.

"Downloading" is the process of getting the file on your computer.
It sounds like you've already completed that part.

The file you need on your computer is called
Dark Fall - Ghost Vigil - Setup - V1.02.zip

Once you have the Dark Fall - Ghost Vigil - Setup - V1.02.zip file on your computer, use your favorite unzipping utility to extract the files. For example, 7-zip, WinZip, WinRAR, or even Windows itself can all extract the file. If you double-click a zip file in Windows, it will show you the contents of the zip file, but won't actually extract it until you tell it to. I find it easier to use 7-zip to extract files than to use Windows, but it's up to you what program to use.

You should get the following three files after extracting the zip file:
Dark Fall - Ghost Vigil - Setup.exe
Dark Fall - Ghost Vigil - Setup-1.bin
Dark Fall - Ghost Vigil - Setup-2.bin

These files should all be in the same folder for the installation to work.
Double-click the Dark Fall - Ghost Vigil - Setup.exe file to start the installation.

Once installed, the game should be ready to run. You may see the option to run the game appear at the tail end of the installation.

I have those . Should I open a

new folder and put all of them into it ? setup bin 1 and 2 are showing VCL media --like a pylon . what should I do with those? ---LOL I am such a technosaur !!

Did you extract the files, meaning did you unzip the file? They won't work until you do. Right click the file named DarkFall - Ghost Vigil - Setup - v1.02.zip and select Extract all. The zipped files will automatically be moved to a new Unzipped file in your Downloads folder.

Don't click on the .bin files directly. They're just storage for the .exe.
You can put the extracted files into a new folder if you want, but when you run the .exe it will install the game folder to C:\Program Files (x86) by default no matter where you run the installer from.

When I ran the installer, it left a game shortcut on my desktop to start the game with.

I have the shortcut on my screen, but when I click on it all I get is a blank screen and a message that the game is not responding, with the choice of either to wait for the program to respond, or cancel.

The first thing to try is to reboot, wait a few minutes for Windows to finish its background loading, and then try starting the game again.
Rebooting seems to solve a number of mysterious problems.

When I start the game, the first thing it does is display a window asking about my screen resolution. When I accept what it detected, I get a black screen for maybe a minute while my hard drive light flashes. Eventually I hear the game and it shows the Shadow Tor promo and loads the Main Menu.

Anyway, try rebooting first. If that doesn't work, try right-clicking the game shortcut and Running as administrator.

If that doesn't work, we'll have to check your specs, and if you meet the specs, you may need to add the game exe to your antivirus' exclusions list.

Maybe Draclvr will have more ideas.

I too have gotten that "game is not responding" message. And my computer exceeds the hardware specs by a good deal. When you got that blank screen in the beginning, did you click on it thinking something was wrong because it wouldn't go away? That's when I got the error message.

So assuming your computer meets the hardware requirements, just be patient while the blank screen is there. Mine stays for 20 seconds. I wish there was SOMETHING to indicate that the game is loading rather than a blank screen.

I assume that buyers from Shadow Tor will be provided a link to it, but I am not sure. It won't be on Steam, because the game has not been released on Steam yet.

I just received an email with the link to my downloads it was now listed.... walkthrough for you to click on. Just started the game yesterday afternoon.

Yes, I got the e mail and printed al 50 pages of the walkthrough. I still haven't downloaded the displacement yet. Should that be played first, or is it completely separate?

Doreen, it's a completely separate game that Jonathan made around 1998 and that the general public never got to play before now.

Meryl here on GameBoomers finished the game a few days ago and thought it was terrific.
