thank you Jenny 100 and lundar for agreeing that disk swapping can ruin the experience of the game.

I agree too - all that disk swapping during the Tex Murphy games was very annoying, especially if you only wanted to go back to check something - and the Tex Murphy games had reasons for swapping disks because only certain locations were on each CD, so I can imagine it's even more frustrating if there's been a FULL install, and there should be NO disk swapping.

The whole disk-swapping thing is one disadvantage that DVD-ROM games don't have - you can fit ALL the game files on 1 DVD, and so no swapping is required.

I don't mean to trivialize anyone's point as they are all well meaning and heartfelf I'm sure.

These comments about disk swapping just reminded of my first several games that I played on 3.5 and 5.25 disks. (I think that was the size). When you would change scenes you would get a message to "insert disk #_____" depending upon which scene you were going to. Some games had as many as 5 or 6 disks and the hard drives were not large enough to hold the data so you played off the disks.

Ahh...........progress.

You laugh because I'm different
I laugh because you're all the same

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

You know, if you make a backup copy you can actually see how much space is taken on the disc. I have noticed that probably 90 per cent of the time the space taken up on a disc is only half. I believe they do this and anounce on the box that the game is hugh and is on 5 cds to trick you into believing the game is hugh when most of the time it is not and probably could have been put on 2 cds. Although I am not bothered with having to swap cds, I would think that the developers would want to make the game as hassle free and enjoyable as possible without any inconviences.

I Baag, Therefore I Am. Update: I Don't Baag Anymore, Therefore I Ain't! Update: I'm baaging again but just a little.

AFAIK, the maximum capacity of a CD is (approx.) 700 MB.
You don't need to make backup copies ...
"Runaway: A Road Adventure" ...............
CD1 = (approx.) 560+ MB
CD2 = (approx.) 675

ergh... I cant wait until dvd versions become the norm. Im not crazy about mucho disk-swapping either but I also began playing in the days of insert disk 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...

I cant remember the name of it but we had one program that had 8 floppies & kept jumping between them. ickyness

Those who remember vividly that sort of thing find it easier to forgive it in 2-3 cds but it surely can mess with the immersiveness of a story. *nod nods*

Speaking of which, can I hear more about the game's story? Not necesarily plot spoilers but I'm reading threads looking for something to help me make up my mind. I dont mind cartoons, voice acting, point & click etc. I *do* mind striptease in the middle of a game I have to share with the family (or play when I should be sleeping).

Is the stripper thing only background info for the character or in the game?

Thanks in advance for humoring my scruples.

Susan smile

~~ Hi Susan ~~

I don't think you need to worry. There is NO "sex" in the game.

It's hardly made clear that Gina is a "stripper" ... rather than just an 'entertainer'.
There is one (only) cutscene towards the end, lasting I think less than a minute, where you see her silhouette (Sp??) 'dancing' behind a semi opaque curtain --- I guess she is SUPPOSED to be naked ... but she seems no different from many singers these days (old fuddy duddy of 78

Len,

What? No sex or stipping? darn, guess I'll just untinstall it then! laugh laugh laugh

Susan, I havn't finsihed yet, but I didn't find anything objectionable, unless as Len said you find the drag-queens offensive. So far, no bad language that I can recall either.
