Hi everyone

Have a question I have played the above mention game all the way through
Once and it was such a good game I figured I would play it again The first
Time I played on Vista so I loaded it into my vista desk top again and after
Loading completed I clicked on play and received the message Config.exe
( 0xc0000135) can anyone explain what this means is it the disk or the config
System in the desktop.
Has anyone else had this problem all help on this appreaciated.

Thank You
Bluto

Hi, you are describing a technical problem so I have moved you over to the Glitches forum. Let's see what the techies have to say.

Is that the full error message? If not, what is the exact message you're getting?

Is this the same computer you played Gray Matter on before, and with the same installation of Vista (not reinstalled or new video card or any other changes to hardware or software)?

Check to see if there is a config.exe in the Gray Matter game folder. Sometimes games had a configuration file that would run the first time you'd run the game, and if you wanted to rerun the game's configuration you could run the configuration file separately from the game. They did it this way in case the game's configuration was so wrong the game wouldn't even open.
If you find a config.exe in the game folder, try running it and see if the configuration window will open. Some games put a link to the configuration file in the game menu.

When I look up 0xc0000135 with a web search I find websites saying it means you don't have the correct version of .NET installed. But if you're playing on the same computer and same OS as before, I don't think that's the reason for your error unless you uninstalled .NET for some reason.

Other websites say it means you have "misconfigured system files" or tell you to check for a virus. So there's no one answer to how to fix a 0xc0000135 error.

I played the GOG download of Gray Matter on my Windows 7 computer and it ran perfectly. Unfortunately the GOG download is no longer available as it has been removed from their catalog. But I had no troubles getting it to run.

I see that the download is still available on Steam and it says that it supports Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8. I also see people in the Steam forum for the game saying that the game is running on their Windows 10 without issues.

I played the Shiny Loot (no longer in business) download of Gray Matter on my Windows 7 computer last year with no problems. It had been downloaded a few years earlier. I don't know if the game actually "installed" on my computer though. I think I had to play it from the download somehow. Sorry, I cannot really remember so don't know how to word that.

I never noticed that GOG removed it from their site Marian. I wonder why. I had thought of getting it there in the past as a backup plan. I do have the disc but don't know if it works or not.

I don't know why it was removed, oldbroad. There are several possible reasons including a change of publishers or a change in publishing agreements.

Unfortunately I remember that Bluto had a bad experience with Steam and is trying to stay away from downloads. Being as he is having problems with the CD/DVD version, though, it seems like a download would be the way to go.

HI Marian, I have the game but not form GOG or Steam, Marian, does that mean people who bought the game from GOG can no longer download it or just for future purchases?

Bluto, I played this game on Win 7, 8.1 and I believe I tested it on Win 10, BUT I had to use a
No CD fix to use it on modern OSs......

Bluto, Scratch my note above, I did not realize that you were now talking about Legacy of Time, and I did not play this game, sorry for the wrong information.
Good luck with your games

Just like Big Fish, if it's in your Purchase History it is there forever for you to download and play - it's just the people who hadn't picked it up already who are out of luck.

I bought Death Gate from GOG and two months later it was removed, which made me really glad that I picked it up right away and didn't wait to purchase it. Death Gate is one of my favorites from Legend Entertainment. I suspect that one was removed due to copyright issues.
