Hi, Marian!

I beta-tested this and have been waiting for it to be released because I really enjoyed it. Hoping for a BOGO or 65% off sale this weekend so I can pick this one and the new Mystery Case Files games up.

Not sure what kind of a sale there will be this weekend, but the following weekend will be the Labor Day weekend and there is almost certainly going to be a BOGO sale then. wave

I'm playing this game and am in Chapter 5. I have the CE version, with the Walkthrough included, and I have run into a problem. I have read through the WT to see where the glitch might be and it concerns acquiring a BRUSH. The problem is, I can't.

I'm in Chapter 5, and have fixed the wiring on the post and solved the electrical panel mini-game. I was supposed to get access to an opening in the floor with both a BRUSH and a TWISTED KEY. I have only the TWISTED KEY. The BRUSH did not go in my Inventory, but it is no longer in the floor opening, either. (I didn't notice this immediately, so don't know if it went into Inventory and then vanished or just never went there in the first place.)

I continued on to the next scene where I had to connect all the characters in the story to the texts describing their activities. I finished that mini-game. That is when I got a new piece of inventory for which I now need the absent BRUSH.

So, here I am, "El Stucko," like in some 80's game with sketchy programming (remembe those? ha ha). Do I have any options besides bailing out on the game and starting over? If I do start over, what are the chances that the same glitch will occur again? frown

I wish I could answer your questions in a definitive way, but I cannot. I did not experience this problem when I played the game so I don't know why this happened. I played through the whole thing without any glitches. One recommendation would be to uninstall and reinstall the game. You won't lose your profile if you do this. Otherwise, I just don't know if this was some random weird thing or if it would happen again were you to start over.

There is a "user review" at Big Fish by kcgirl_01 that says the following:

Really fun game, but it has a glitch that won't let you finish the game which is very frustrating. In chapter 5 in the abandoned factory make sure after opening the cache on the factory floor that you select the brush first before the twisted key to help get the brush into your inventory. It worked for me."

So if you do start over, that's how you avoid the "glitch."

Thanks for finding that, Jenny. I was wondering if the problem might also have to do with the order that you do things. I am surprised that Domini has not provided a patch for this problem, as they are generally good about this sort of thing.

I think I'll move on to my second game and come back to this one again, after a few weeks pass. Then I won't mind starting over as much. It is just weird. Never had a piece of inventory disappear in a modern game like that before. There have been some other issues that suggest this game might have been hurried out the door. It reminds me of the early days of gaming, when the company might issue a patch to cover a game glitch. Remember that? Fun times.
