Hi all, I just finished Tex Murphy 5: Overseer and really liked it for the most part. Looking forward to playing Tex 6 (Tesla Effect). I'm trying to keep my expectations low, though, as the reviews are not that great. Has anybody of you played it? Last but not least, I just tried to find news about the upcoming (or so I thought) next game of the series - Tex 7: The Poisoned Pawn. I was very excited about this game as I think the 2017 MAGFest trailer on youtube is superb (brilliant voice acting, great music, ok/nice graphics). I am not sure if you guys knew it already, but it seems the project is in a bad state right now and likely to be canceled, at least according to one of the developers. In case anyone is interested, check out Darren Sebire comments on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChaoticFusionTM/status/1133860007047340032He posted on 18 Nov that he has not worked on the game for a year :-( I was really surprised about what else he wrote, as I was under the impression the development was in a later stage already. Update: You need to hit 'View more replies' and scroll a bit to get to Darren's posts.

Thanks for the info on Tesla Effect., Marian. That sounds good, as for me a good game does not necessarily need to have high-end graphics. For me, even the graphics of Tex 5 were good enough. Sure, better is nice, but not really a must.

Mike, regardless of what one of the developers says, the game is still being worked on by others in the group. They have elected not to do updates because todays social media allows for so much "anonymous" harassments by armchair cowards who attack them for being slow. So they have elected to forgo any updates and just focus on the development as they can. One of the group was in a serious accident and another having a challenging situation regarding covid. The project is not dead per Big Finish 4 days ago. All of the games on our upcoming games list here were checked last in August and are all confirmed active. This is a public notice from BFG in May. We wanted to pass on a message from a member of the Poisoned Pawn development team, which will hopefully provide greater insight into the current state of the project... “Hi folks, we wanted to add that the development team behind the Poisoned Pawn is grateful for everybody’s patience. You truly are the best community! As was mentioned before, the team behind the Poisoned Pawn is made up of only 4 developers. These developers have not been commissioned by Big Finish Games to develop the title and are doing so on their own. Big Finish has generously offered some resources and assistance along the way which has been a fantastic boost to the project. But think of us as passionate fans who are donating their own resources to develop the game. But they also need to juggle full-time jobs, take care of personal responsibilities, as well as the numerous social challenges everybody faces (such as the recent Pandemic). In fact, one of our team members was involved in a serious accident that caused a lot of stress and they have been doing an excellent job of getting back on their feet to help see this project through. We do our best to remain passionate about our work throughout its development. But unfortunately, we are also sometimes the target of harassment by community members. Some of us have received targeted harassment and threats before. I think there was one such recent case here on this page. But I believe that person’s comments were removed for violating the Facebook community terms of service for bullying and harassment. In cases like this, especially when you are donating your time to deliver something to fans out of passion, it can sometimes be hard to remain motivated to maintain a strong community presence when you are occasionally being targeted maliciously by community members. Therefore, some of the developers have adopted a more distanced approach from frequent community updates. This is so they may focus on the game and not have to experience some of the disheartening harassment. We understand it is perfectly fine for members to express concern or disappointment about a lack of updates, and we appreciate all of the constructive feedback. But it's another thing entirely to harass or curse at people. That said, we are still passionate about this project in spite of all this and want to let everybody know that the title is still in development at this stage, and we hope to have an update with some media and content soon. Thank you for understanding!” Remember folks, we are all in this together. We're all fans of something wonderful, and truly believe we have one the best community and supporters in the gaming world. Let's continue to be civil to each other, and especially to those who are helping to keep the dream alive! Thank you!
Don't feed the Trolls

Thanks for the info, Ana. I guess we have no other choice than to just wait and see whether this is true or not. I, personally, are more inclined to believe what the twiiter dev posted. Why would he lie? I can believe that he project is still active in the sense that the intention to finish the project is still there , but it sounds like in terms of actual development not much has happened since may, unless the twitter-dev is not really part of the team anymore. I mean, he posted he has not worked on the game for a year. That is a long time. Also the official post states 'and we hope to have an update with some media and content soon' . Has this happened since may, which is more than half a year ago? To my knowledge, no.
This is no criticism of the dev-team and harassment of course is simply not acceptable, we should be thankful for what they do in their free-time. I am just disappointed because based on articles and trailers I was under the impression the game was almost done (which obviously was a wrong assessment from my part, this i the second time I drew wrong conclusions based on some trailers) Now it sounds like we will have to wait a few more years.
Luckily, another game that I have been waiting for along time is likely to be released soon :-)

In case anyone is interested, we played the game. The first half of the game, I agree, is a very good game. The story is set up nicely, Tex and his interactions with the other characters is very engaging, in part hilarious , so really good, I woud say B+. Unfortunately, I think the second half of the game is much weaker, especially the last third. Much less character interaction and the game reduces itself to find X objects, combine them and use them somewhere obvious. Especially the same pattern over and over again of search X (baseball cards), seach Y (silcion + gun + another gun) etc is just boring, even slightly annoying. At times it felt almost like playing a hidden objects game with running around. Hats off to the devlopers for creating a very long and almost cinematic ending though,, I liked it. And also timed sequences are not acceptable for me, but this of course is just a personal dislike.
All an all a good game, with some weak , uninspiring sections, in my opinion. In all, we enjoyed playing it, the developers can be proud of what they created: B- overall, first half B+
