I just came out of the BF site, everyone of their walkthroughs are gone. I clicked on community & then game walkthroughs & then the letter H and got "this site can't be reached", so I tried all the other letters & got the same thing. The old forums are still up so it has nothing to do with my computer. I sure would like to know what is going on over there because they are not answering any emails. duh

I am (reluctantly) coming to the conclusion that unless you buy a CE with a built-in strategy guide, there aren't going to be any walkthroughs available anymore. The last few releases where the CE went to the standard version, there was no blog walkthrough posted.

This is definitely not good news, but until something else happens that convinces me otherwise, that is what I am going to suspect is going on.

It will be great if I am wrong.

I found a few working walkthroughs here, but when I try to view all walkthroughs, the list is there but I am unable to access them.

That's exactly what I did Marian & I have to agree with you. To me they care more about their casino games than with the HOG adventures. It wouldn't surprise me if they dropped the HOG's in the near future. I think I'm going to cancel my membership with them.

Some of the HOPA developers that Big Fish had were bought out by another company and/or decided to get into mobile games instead. Unfortunately the number of HOPA developers has diminished as a result, and I do understand that Big Fish can't create new developers out of thin air. This is why the decrease in the number of HOPAs released this past year.

I have also noticed more straight HOGs in the past six months, and I am thinking this is perhaps an attempt to fill the void somewhat. But they aren't the same thing, of course.

Something I've noticed also that is about the games offered on Big Fish (not about the Big Fish site) is that most of them are no longer being offered on Steam. I actually bought a lot of Big Fish casual games on Steam at some very low sale prices. Now there have been only 4 games made available on Steam since August. I don't know who decides to sell them there but with Big Fish changing so much, I was counting on getting more games from Steam.

oldbroad, considering Steam will take anything since they got rid of the Greenlight program, it says something about the development of the casuals as we were used to. Games with paid DLC and in-app purchases are more lucrative as casuals.

I really miss the old BF Days when Paul Thelen owned it. With each change in ownership it went more downhill. frown

That is interesting, oldbroad. Not sure what the significance of that might be.

I just noticed that if you google for a particular walkthrough rather than search for it on the actual BF site, a link will pop up for the walkthrough on BF and you can view it that way.

I've been doing that for sometime now, Marian, if needing a nudge yes

I'd been searching for walkthroughs using Google. The last one from Big Fish, had all the text but no screenshots, making it useless. I had to resort to a video walkthrough. I will say that there is a guy who does them routinely and he is very entertaining!

Hi JKEerie; that is what I've been complaining about, if the walkthrough is there & not showing "404" the screenshots have broken links making them usless.

Interestingly, a Big Fish fans Facebook group was talking about this and someone from Big Fish came on and thanked them for their patience in regards to the walkthrough mess. This makes me think that perhaps they are eventually going to get this straightened out. We will just have to wait and see. I am certainly not going to be making any pronouncements (or even educated guesses) at this point.

Hi Judith. I hope they fix the issue soon. Most of the puzzles I can figure out, but I just finished Wanderlust Shadow of the Monolith and two of the puzzles had very "picky" positions of the elements involved (stars, for example) that even though my solution looked right, it didn't trigger the next action. I needed a picture. There is a guy that posts his game play video walkthroughs on YouTube. He goes by 123Pazu. I have to say he is so funny to listen to. He'll share the same frustration about the puzzle and then stumble on the solution and admit it was pure dumb luck!

I'm a big fan of 123Pazu. I think he is great at what he does, which is video walkthroughs of both casual and full-on adventure games.

I played a HOPA recently where the code for a puzzle was 123Pazu. A nice tribute to him from the developers. smile
