Hi.

My Win10 machine is nearly built grin
Sadly not by my Son in Law. He just hasn't been able to make the time. [He's still a key worker and still having to put in many hours.]
However, he will be fitting it into the 3 machine setup I have and retiring my (still fantastic and fully working) Win98SE for me.
And happily the builder of the Win10 has at least been approved by him yes

So for those techies who might be interested, the specs I know of so far are :

Asus PRIME H570-PLUS, Intel H570, 1200, ATX, 4 DDR4, HDMI, DP, RGB, 2x M.2
Intel Core i5-11400 CPU, 1200, 2.6 GHz (4.4 Turbo), 6-Core, 65W, 14nm, 12MB Cache, Rocket Lake
16GB DDR 4 Kingston hyper X Memory
Kingston 960GB SSDNow A400 SSD, 2.5", SATA3, R/W 500/450 MB/s, 7mm
Riotoro CR400 Gaming Case with Window, ATX, No PSU, Mesh Front, 2 x 12cm Fans (Red LED Front Fan), USB 3.0
Be Quiet! 500W System Power 9 PSU, 80+ Bronze, Dual 12V, Cont. Power
Windows 10 PRO .... latest windows SP
PciE wireless card 300MB
MSI NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1660 SUPER GAMING X Graphics Card '6GB GDDR6, 1830Hz, RGB Mystic Light, 3x DisplayPort, HDMI, Dual Fan Cooling System

I hardly know myself what any of them are but hope I can control this machine when I get it !! lol

Cheers.

Mad grin

Very, very nice gaming computer! You're especially going to like that Solid State drive! I don't know if I could go back to a pokey slow HDD any more. I love your case too!

I don't know what any of it is but it sounds good Mad.

Not to be a downer on the Solid State drive, but I don't get the big deal. Mine seems slower and for sure I would never know the difference what kind of drive was in there.

I had an SSD in my Win7 when it was first built but although splendidly fast it just wasn't big enough and I got it swapped out.

I don't think I'll have that problem though this time 😑

When I REALLY notice the slow HDDs is when I go to work on other people's computers. Sometimes it's a combination of factors, but the HDD just magnifies. I find it painful!

You're going to be fine Mad and you probably won't hate Windows 10 as much as you think you will!

It will be retiring with an unblemished record - and still in perfect working order - after 23 years and three months of practically daily use, soot !!

( And I am really sad about losing it but I simply can't fit FOUR machines in my setup cry )

You don't have to retire your Win 98 machine, you could combine (Dual Boot) your W98 and WinXP together, that is what I did with my friend's machine and he is a Happy Camper.

PS: Congrats on your New Beast of a machine.

Well, I would still try to find a place for it to be usable on it's own, independent of the others. yes

My current XP machine WAS once a 98SE/XP dual boot, Starcom, but locating compatible parts when I wanted to upgrade the XP side proved difficult, so eventually I had the 98 taken off - carried on with my original 98SE - and just upgraded the XP grin

(How I will cope with my new Win10 is something I'm not thinking too deeply about eek)

EDIT :

I feel three machines is enough, really, oldbroad, and I do have tweaked modern versions of a lot of my older Win98 games so I'm not losing out too much on the game angle laugh

Hee Hee !!

My Win10 machine is now here with me and is up and running.
[Not networked with Win7 and WinXP yet but IS linked to them by the KVM.]

So Now I'm happily fiddling and investigating "what's what" with it - and fervently hoping I won't wreck anything whistle

You won't hurt anything! Have fun exploring and holler at me if you have any questions! I can do Windows 10 in my sleep!

I'm sure your SIL will know how to network them without allowing either Windows 7 or XP to expose your Windows 10 to malware on the internet.

Thanks, all grin

And yes, Draclvr, my SIL can certainly deal with the networking. It's just that on this latest visit he ran out of time - so it will be done on his next.

But I'll certainly shout out any questions I might have in the meantime, thank you lol
