Our new washer and dryer should be here today. We've been without a dryer for a month, which has added another layer of stress to our lives, having to run over to a neighbour's house every week. I originally ordered from Costco specifically because the delivery time was so short, and then they changed it to mid-August, which was a deal-breaker. I ended up running around every furniture store in town until I found a decent set that could be delivered quickly.
We're still having mostly windy days, which takes a lot of the sting out of John not being able to go boating. This is just like last year -- we were only able to get out about 15 times all summer. Strange weather patterns.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Canning dill pickles today and put on a batch of bread and butter pickles to brine overnight. Will finish them up tomorrow. Going out to pick my first big tomato today - don't know if it's 100% ripe, but it's real red and down low. Those are the ones the turtles help themselves to!

family, you always say you do the same thing every day. If you aren't outside doing anything, I hope you are at least getting in some good gaming time!

Just coffee for me this morning. We have a plethora of cucumbers and I'm making a batch of bread and butter pickles today. Hubby made 9 quarts of dill pickles yesterday. Since I have e LOT of pickles from last year on the shelves from last year, we will not be lacking pickles this winter! Had our first big red tomato from the garden yesterday - heavenly!

Sumatra coffee sounds about right.
Nothing much planned for today, since the neighbourhood guys are gathering here to watch the soccer final and it will be noisy.
Our tomatoes are lagging badly because in all the chaos with John's health I neglected to pinch them, so we have lots of leaves and not too many flowers. Oh well. The other crop is doing just fine
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Welcome back, Ana! Sounds you need a couple of days to catch your breath!
hagatha, I never, never pinch my tomatoes. Yes, there is a lot of "green," but in our hot climate, all the devoted pinchers have sunscald on their tomatoes because there isn't enough protection from the sun. I follow a lot of tomato research on a couple of university websites and they all say pinching does not get you more tomatoes and may even reduce your harvest! Now, the caveat is that you need really good support when you allow an indeterminate tomato plant to grow to its full size! If all you do is stake them, then pinching might be a good idea.

Hi Soot, Yes they did do a remake in 2020 starring "Emmy Award winner Matthew Rhys of the Fantastic TV show The Americans who is playing Perry Mason". The start of season 2 has yet to be decided on the start date. The only this with this Remake is, if you watched the Old Perry Mason like I did, Wow, it is much more violent and contains Nudity which one did not see in the Old Perry Mason TV Series, so it takes getting used to, and of course, for Old farts like me, it will never beat the Oldie Goldie P.M. series.

NOW it's time to sit down for a cup or two of coffee! I just dropped Wally off at the vet for his annual checkup and immunizations! They still don't allow anyone in the building except employees, so he may end of staying overnight as they were totally booked with appts. today. Wally was a feral kitten who was dumped out here about 3 years ago. It took us about 3 months to get him friendly enough that we could catch him and get him in to be neutered and get immunizations. He's strictly a barn cat and spends most of his time hunting small varmints in the woods and the pasture. But hubby saw him this morning and snatched him up and managed to get him in the cat carrier with only one major bleeding incident! We are both on a blood thinner, so it doesn't take much!
Think I'll splurge on a cinnamon crunch bagel. Thanks, connie!
